... it was OK.
Actually, it wasn't bad at all, and the job's mine if I want it, but I don't think I do. Not sure I'm ready to committ to anything so soon after my last band, maybe I need to take a little time out and think about what I want to do musically...
They're a covers band, doing punked up versions of punk (!) and new wave tunes. Pretty good concept, nice thrashing out Tainted Love on a tele through my Crunch Box! And they're a nice bunch of lads (lads! they're all older than me!!!)
But no - not for me, I think.

At least you're getting out there! Well done.

Sounds like fun to me, I'd do it!

Sent the email this morning saying that I couldn't commit to the band. It's a shame, but I'd rather let them down now than 12 songs in...

Sounds like fun.

Why did you go for the audition ?

Why did you go for the audition ?
Thought it might be 90-100%, if you know what I mean.
Turns out it was 70-80% - good, but not good enough to take up my time.

Anything less than 80% is probably not worth bothering with. But don't get disheartened. I've been in a number of bands that have lasted between 3 and 6 years. All but one I parted company with amicably usually because they wanted to go in a direction that I wasn't happy with or because I got interested in something else.
After my last band came to an end I was thinking that at age 53 maybe I wasn't going to find another band but I'm now playing with a great bunch of guys aged 48, 21 and 21.
Hope you find what you're looking for. From our second gig last Friday:
