Title: Crazy GAS
Post by: Dmoney on July 20, 2011, 08:07:38 PM
I've wanted one of these for AGES!

Gibson Les Paul Custom Lite
I'm close to pulling the trigger but I doubt I will since I probably shouldn't be spending cash like that.
I really like the whole vibe of this guitar though. The colour, the thin body with the tummy chamfer.

Thats a really nice guitar, I'd be tempted too, but i'm now allowed to buy guitars for another 2 years (Fiancee's orders) :(

That's funny, I have a saved eBay search for those too!   But two things put me off:

1. They're always pretty pricey.
2. They never actually seem to be all that "lite", thanks to the lead-like mahogany Gibson were using in those days.

Anyway, I say go for it!

yeah they are kind of rare but I dig them. Thing is, i also like my les paul custom. It would be a bit greedy to have the two. Is that a good price for one? I really don't have any idea what they go for but I think they are great.

It's not a bad price, IMO - I've seen them go for more, certainly.  Maybe that pink colour isn't the most desirable, although I like it personally (it seems to be the most common colour)

Worth putting an offer in?

Not the one in the ad, but I like this picture showing how thin the body is:

I think so.  I don't know if it's any thinner than normal, to preserve the maple/mahogany ratio... I'd guess not.

I'd imagine its very much like an SG with that body thickness; or rather 'thinness'.

Dunno, I think the maple top and LP neck joint will make a difference.  And most of the ones I've seen listed on eBay weigh 8 lbs+ despite the thin body, compared with an average SG at 6-7 lbs.

If I ever do decide to order a custom Feline Lion, it'll be along the lines of the Custom Lite - thinner body, belly cut on the back, ebony board.  Not necessarily the standard LP body woods or control layout, though.
