does anybody have/ used to own one of these?

I just visited a friend who had bought a worn ebony one. Things i noticed:
Chunky neck, very light (chambered), very easy to play, matt worn finish looked a bit easily damageable.
but it sounded pretty damn awesome, so much that i would be tempted to get one as my next guitar. Iv never played a p90 equipped guitar before, whats the pros and cons? Oh and the amp i played through was a 60 Cube, noice.

played one with upgraded pickups(apparently they are not standar size) sounded great and played. Am gassing for one

Hmmmmm........cons to a P90 loaded guitar............
No, can't think of any.

The sound man, THE SOUND! The tributes are ace, but the 50's ones (for me) are better

Is the neck profile the only difference?

Oh, and +1 to P-90s. I have more P-90 guitars than I can shake a stick at.
The only "con" with P-90s is the hum.... and I'm sure the vintage tonehounds will say that just goes with the territory.
-
From what I can gather, yep.....just the profile

there's also a new humbucker version as well

I knew about the 60s tribute with humbuckers, is there a 50s with humbuckers as well now? Better not tell my missus

They do look good for sure.
-
For this price I sure would try one. Since there are discussion about inconsistent qualities of the Tributes, it'would be wise to test them thoroughly. But P90's are to die for. :)

Some of these have bodies made of 5 pieces of heavy wood. Doesn't have to be a problem on each of them, but can make it dull/dead. They look great for the money though, and no binding on the neck is a plus in my book.

Well, no surprise there!
They're chambered (or at least weight-relieved) though, aren't they? I've always assumed the number of pieces in the body is less critical if you're going to carve a load of holes in it. Even Warmoth often use 3-piece backs on their chambered bodies.
