Title: Aftermath vs Miracle Man
Post by: mbchepburn on July 24, 2011, 07:23:40 PM
I was just interested in what people thought when comparing these clips together. I've already got an Aftermath and I'll be buying another set next week. I know the Aftermath with it's boosted mids give it a good tone for leads etc. But with the Miracle Mans scooped EQ, how does this sounds for metalcore style music with riffs and leads etc?

Judge by yourself:

I wouldn't consider the MM scooped. Scooped definitely sounds different.

I mean in the pickups EQ terms

MM is meaner and more heavy...Itīs realy fat in low mids......Oposite upper mids freq is voiced similary to somebody say to EMG 81 but I would say in mahogany sounds more like 85 model...Definitely will work for your style....But with dark voiced amp and guitar together you could lack some present mids what you must love on AM.....

I have both the MM and the AM and have had them both in the same guitar. To my ears, the AM has a tighter bottom end, more aggressive high mids, more crunch overall than the MM. The MM has a fatter bottom end and low mids, smoother top end and high mids. Neither sounded even remotely scooped (because I turn the mids up on my amp), and if I wasn't after the absolutely tightest pickup I could lay my hands on, I would still be using the MM very happily. If you fancy something a (little) bit different, give it a go! :)
