Because I have a case of perpetual GAS, I'm starting to get that itch again. Somehow, through a series of trades, I ended up with a Paul Reed Smith 25th Anniversary 305... of which they only made 305 of them. I think the rarity and potential value of the guitar is what prompted me to acquire it, but once I got it home I realized that I really have no use for a single coil equipped guitar. Sure, it looks nice hanging on my wall, and nostalgia may have played a role in me thinking that I would be happy with single coils (my first guitar was a MIM Fender Strat). So of course when the GAS started kicking in, I started thinking that I have a pretty good bargaining chip on my hands... so I began to shop around.
One of the local shops has a PRS Singlecut Artist... and truth be told, this is actually the first PRS that I fell in love with. It's been in the shop since I started going there, and every time I go in, I'm forced to play a few notes on it. It's got a transparent black quilted maple top and gold hardware, and I love the sound of it both clean and dirty. It basically checks all the boxes for me.
Another shop has an EVH Wolfgang Stealth. I used to own a Wolfgang Special, and it is one of the few guitars that I really regret getting rid of. I loved playing that guitar, and Eddie was the reason I started playing the guitar in the first place, but I sold the Special in a moment of stupidity. The Stealth version appeals to me even more, as it not only is a US made guitar, but it also is a bit more subdued than the Tobacco burst Special that I had, and it has an ebony fretboard. I haven't got a chance to sit down with it yet, but I'm afraid the moment I do, I will buy it without thinking in another moment of stupidity.
And of course, there's old faithful... a Lester. Now, I've always wanted a genuine LP Standard, but have only owned Studios and other Special Editions of the sort, but never the genuine article. I think it's more of a bucket list type of thing more than anything else, just to say that I have or have had an LP Standard, but will I really be happy with one or am I just wanting one because it seems like a guitar that every serious musician needs to own.
Now, I could either keep the 305, let it slowly accumulate some worth, and who knows, maybe my tastes could change and I could find a use for single coils after all. Or I could trade it in or sell it, and pick up one of the one above. I'm just wondering what YOU would do and why...

Sounds to me that this guitar has your name on it.

I agree with Dave 100%. If you are lucky enough to find a guitar that ticks all of the boxes for you then you should absolutely go for that one. It sounds like you should have already made your decision - posting a question on here can only lead to uncertainty!

Singlecut all the way, when you find one that makes you want to play it, buy it and dont look back

Get the Les Paul, a pair of aviators and a packet of snouts.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It seems you guys are more or less confirming what I already was kinda feeling in my heart. This particular PRS Singlecut is actually the first PRS that I was really wowed by... and the first PRS that actually prompted me to take it off the wall and play. I really never considered owning a PRS prior to my experience with that SC, but after I plugged it in, I was sold. Maybe I should jump on that guitar before someone else does? I'm surprised it hasn't sold already.

Hi,
See if you can trade your Ltd Edition PRS for both the Wolfgang AND the Les Paul - maybe with a little bit of cash. I have both of these and I would not part with either! The Lester is a smooth classy sounding axe and the Wolfgang pure EVH! Yeah!

I have the day off tomorrow, so the plan is to shop around a little more... just in case. There's a few Suhr's that look pretty good and I still have to actually plug in that EVH Stealth. Meanwhile, I found out that the SC is in the shop on consignment, so the owner is going to check the most current prices and then come up with a good offer to throw at the guy... so we shall see.
