noisy valve retainers..just on occasional low note is there an easy fix.....drivin me slightly mad(http://www.ampmaker.com/store/images/sk04a.jpg) think are these type is a martamp combo

We had exactly the same problem in our combination amplifiers.
We solved it be getting some silicone tubing 4 mm internal diameter and sliding this over the springs. This is the sort of tubing:

We also use a silicone rubber ring over the top of the valve:

cool may try the silicone tubing guessing you tie around valve stopping the retainers catching

No, I slide it over the springs.
