Title: Pickups for a Warmoth build
Post by: Eric on August 02, 2011, 10:20:03 PM
OK here's the specs

24 3/4" scale maple neck and fretboard with 24 frets

Swamp ash body

Wilkinson tremolo, Sperezel tuners, Graphtech nut

I want a single coil in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge. I need something fairly hot and that can do old school metal( like Priest and Maiden), some prog(like Rush), thrash(Anthrax, Megadeth), King's X, old Van Halen, Primus. I know this is asking  a lot from one guitar but this is the music I tend to play.

They'll probably be wired to a 5 way switch with positions something like this. 1. Bridge series 2. Bridge parallel 3 Bridge and neck 4 Bridge split and neck 5 neck.

Fire away with your suggestions. Thanks.

I have a guitar with a VHII in the bridge and a Trilogy Suite in the neck that is super versatile; I think that would suit your needs well.

I have the VHII in an alder strat and it nails VH tones well. Not sure it's the pu for Megadeth etc. Maybe the Holy Diver and a Trilogy would be a little more versatile set.

+1 for the Trilogy in the neck, i have one in a strat and find it very versatile indeed.
