A wonderful gentleman is building me a guitar, thought you might like to see :)
It will be left handed too!

Nice bit of wood. A shame it's going to be backwards.
-
That's how I feel about every right handed guitar :D I can flip the future pictures if you like.
-
paduak?
-
I think I recognise that little flourish on the bottom of the body.
-
Very nice! Being a lefty I will be very intrested to follow this one being built.

Yes indeed! :D
Didn't the gentleman concerned say he was building some purpleheart SGs?

One for the rightys and lefties. The wood is African Padauk.

SGR Special?
-
Interesting to see it's a full-width neck tenon, with those very thin sides - almost like a Fender neck pocket.
-
SGR Special?
Yeah it will be a SGR Special made by Paul at PR Guitars! Do you still have your SGR Twinfan?

I have been sitting on the previous pictures for a while so the next one has already arrived :)

Looking good. When it's arriving?
Also nice to see the archetypal photo of a guitar with the luthiers trainers
-
:o Delicious.

Yup, sure do :) I've been using it a lot recently, and it's heading out for a gig on Friday night as well.

Nice to see pics of Paul's dining room and living room too!

I don't really like the headstock and this strange cut at the body's bottom, but the wood is superb and the craftmanship's obviouly top notch. Looks like it's gonna be a nice guitar.
-
Looks lovely! I'm starting to get used to the wacky details of the body and headstock shapes, I wasn't at all keen when Dave got his first PR.
-
Thanks for all the comments :D It sure is made out of nice wood.. but I do hand pick all my own wood.
This guitar has a standard body (two humbuckers) but with a special neck. It will be finished very soon and the best part of making a guitar is playing it for the first time :D
Yes I am making a nice purple heart SGR and I will post some pic's.

I'm really interested to see that one!

You've got your templates upside down. Everythings backwards.

I've had the guitar for a few weeks now and the quality is amazing! Im very pleased with how it turned out. It has a longer scale length than my epiphone SG, but bends are really easy on the stainless steel frets and it just feels so much nicer to play compared to my other guitars :) :) :)

I think we need pictures of the finished article, don't you?! :P

Thanks Luke, Nice to know what you think of your guitar :D All my guitars are 25'' scale :)

Excellent!
DiMarzios?

DiMarzios?
Yeah that's my standard pick-ups unless somebody wants something else :)
-
very nice :D
-
Very tasty indeed.
It took me a while to get used to the left-handed look (I immediately liked the extra detail in the body when I first saw pictures of the right-hand versions, the left-hand version looked a bit odd at first but I soon got used to it).
OK Philly - you got the pickups. How about these:
1. What gauge is the fretwire?
2. What make are the strap buttons?
3. What vacuum cleaner does he use to keep the carpet so clean?

1. Hmmm.... about 6150?
2. Can't tell - but they look a bit like the Fender bass string trees PRS use instead of conventional strap buttons.
3. Henry (Juszkiewicz)?

I knew you'd give it a go... And I won't be surprised if you're very close on all three. I've just got a feeling he might be a Dyson man though...

I like the shape as it is. It is unique and easily identifiable. For example:
I think I recognise that little flourish on the bottom of the body.
Without that flourish on the bottom, it pretty much could've been any guitar.
I saw a clip on Youtube the other day: the guy was playing a Les Paul. It was only a Les Paul...nothing exciting.
What you need is something that stands out.
The craftmanship is top notch. I have a few PRguitars. Each one is sensational!

wow this is really really nice! I love the SG meets BC Rich Wave look. personally i would have tamed the HS a little but its very cool nonetheless
by the way here is a BC rich wave

I took some photos on my phone last week but they don't do it justice, but I see Paul has already posted some quality photos! Still really happy with this after a month, been trying out different amp settings with it playing foos and arctic monkeys. I like its sound, its more modern sounding than my epi g400 with riff-raffs, but I'm wondering what the riff raffs would sound like in this guitar. . . not going to reach for the soldering iron yet though. I have rewired and changed pickups on all my other guitars but this one is already good and I don't what to mess it up PDT_003
Will probably sell the epi at some point but keep the riff raffs (Why sell good things when you can just stash them under the bed?) for experimentation at a much later date :D

My philosophy exactly!
