Picked this one up friday. Cleaned her up, new strings and setup, widened the nut slots a bit and put some risers under the bigsby for tuning stability.

Got the silver sparkle bug when someone let me me a Gretsch Billy Zoom signature Silver Jet.

Cool! 8)
I don't know much about DeArmond guitars - is that the line Fender had out during the retro craze about 10-15 years ago?
-
Yep, cool as!

Beautiful purchase

That looks very very nice.

I always liked the Sparkle Jet, so this looks great to me. And it has the DeArmond pickups too.

DeArmond was Guild's Epiphone. Back then Guild was still competing with Gretsch and Gibson. This one was made by Cort in Korea.
The pickups are DeArmond 2K pickups (not te be confused with the Dearmond 2000, different animal). Technically a mix between a P90 and a Dynasonic. Purists say it's neither fish nor fowl but I'm digging them. They have primitive, raw, old school tone. Warm highs, low-end twang, good bark and growl with a bit overdrive or distortion, nice quack in the middle position.
Thanks for the comments everyone.

REALLY nice, I have a soft spot for those guitars. I had a DeArmond from the same series when Fender bought the brand in the late 90s (I think). I had that same LP shape, but with humbuckers which were fat, but still had a nice hint of twang. Great guitar, I only paid £200 - steal!!! Wish I had it now.

I saw one on ebay UK about a week ago that went for £348.
£250 is about what I paid for mine; 300 Euro.
It's a good time to buy these guitars. I remember when Grecos and Burnys were this cheap.
