Title: Help with Vintage30 spec for cab
Post by: witeter on August 09, 2011, 10:47:17 AM
hey guys i currently have a marshall 1960a 4x12 cab with G12t75's in it. Im hoping to install 2 celestion vintage 30s in an xpattern. Which celestion V30's do i need? 16ohm?  is it a particular size? im new to this kinda stuff so any help would be great.

pretty sure they are 16ohm in those cabs.. someone will confirm i'm sure. if not - whip the back off and have a look at the speakers in there.

If it has 4/16 mono switching and 8ohm per side stereo options, then they will be 16ohms.

Yeha at the back it has 4ohm or 16ohm options, so i assume that would make it 16ohm speakers-this may sound stupid but do 16ohm speakers come in a standard size? or can they vary?

there are many different sizes.. but 4x12 means it has four 12" speakers, so you need a 12" speaker, which the vintage 30 usually is! :)

it depends on the cab. some speakers are soldered in there, and some just have push-on tags so you don't need to solder at all - just swap over the wires.

open her up and have a look inside.
