Hello guys,
I ordered an RGA 8 a few days ago ( I am waiting for it to arrive). The thing is , the pickups are SO BAD so I am going to change them asap, of course to BKP Cold Sweats. I spoked with Tim and he suggested me, CTS/BKP 550K pots, standard shaft and a Jensen 0.022ufd paper in oil cap for volume pot and 500k push pull pot for tone. The spacing of the 8 string humbuckers are all the same, right?? Making sure. lol.
What I don't know is what capacitor I should get for 500k push pull tone pot?? Any suggestions?? I am seconds away from ordering and this is the last thing I need to know, before I proceed.
Thank you very much,
Michael

Depends on what you want it to do. You wanna cut highs for a rounder sound or would you like to cut some unusable bass and get rid of your flubbies when you chug?

I'm a little confused - doesn't it only have one volume, one tone? So you only need one capacitor, the Jensen 0.022ufd Tim suggested. Unless you want to go with a different value?

To be honest, I am still new to the whole thing so I try to figure it out, what's going on and how it works.
I thought you had to get another capacitor for the tone pot either way, since you won't need a second one then I won't.
The thing is though, I might not actually get a tone pot to replace that "mid boost" the guitar has, but replace it with a coil tap and to be honest, I don't know where to find one. Any suggestions where I can get one?? Does BKP store sell these?? Plus, will the CRL 3 way Tele switch or the CRL 5 way switch will fit my guitar??
Thank you very much and sorry if I am being annoying with stupid questions. I am trying to find a solution here, we all have to start from somewhere. :D

I don't know much about the RGA8 (or Ibanez in general), but I see it has active pickups, volume, a 3-way switch and an EQ switch, no tone control.
I'm guessing the EQ won't work with passive pickups (although it might). If you wanted a coil split switch rather than a tone control (or tone control with push-pull) you should just be able to replace the EQ switch with a mini-switch - you can get one from Allparts or WD Music Products (BKP sell an "on-on-on" mini-switch, you could use that for series-split-parallel - but only on one pickup). To split both pickups at the same time, you'd need an "on-on" mini-switch.
If you replace the EQ with a tone pot, you'll need to make the hole bigger so think carefully before doing it!
For the main switch, the CRL 3-way Tele switch should fit - but there's no real need to replace the guitar's existing switch.

the CRL 3 way tele switch, won't be an upgrade?

It'll be a better quality switch, yes.
