As the title says? Are there any tonal difference between hex bolts and regular screws? I ask because i had two a5 warpigs once. the difference of those were the bolts. the one with bolts were much more open, while the one with screws were much more bassy.. ?
I fell in love with my painkiller again.. Actually so much it has become my fav pickup recently. And now i consider to buy another and put it in my V. I just think it would look much cooler with black hex bolts instead of screws.

Last time I ordered my Holydiver I was told that you can get the allen bolts only on the warpig and aftermath... but maybe they changed their opinion ;).

im Tim's only child. i get what i want.... :D

The differences are minimal but you are correct, the allen bolts are more focused and somewhat brighter than the flat heads.
Have allens on my MQ's.

The big-assed allen bolts on the Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader are used to give the pole-pieces more surface area and a unique voicing.
Compare the Invader to the Dimebucker (which uses rails) to hear what I'm on about, as they're identical, aside from the poles.
Not quite the answer you're looking for, I'm sure, but I figured I would chime in, regardless.

Are you sure? I think it would be part of a battlescarred cover? I think they all come with such screws, there are many examples in the gallery.

Maybe Tim just came to the conclusion that some "cosmetic" features compromise the tone he was after when designing the pickup? I emailed him with a question regarding a bridge Cold Sweat with double screw coils (like the Dirty fingers has) and he replied that they dont do Sweats with double screw coils because it gives them too much bass or something like that... Well, I just happen to have a CS with double screw coils that I ordered straight from the shop a few years ago

this was the mail I got:
Hi Bastian,
Thanks for the order, but the bolts are only available on the Aftermaths and Warpigs.
Kind Regards,
Ben
