Well, I ordered the Nailbombs for my Les Paul. I wanted to put some VHIIs in a Charvel, but that's on hold for a while. I'll upgrade another guitar first.

Gibson 76 Explorer reissue. Will be tuned to D and used for metal. Nothing extreme, but fairly "modern" sounding.
I like a tone with some body to it, tight but plentiful bottom and some top end sparkle without fizz...
Not really a fan of extreme high output.

 What would you guys suggest?
-
				Cold Sweats?

				Cold Sweats.

 Cheers Stephan

I don't know about the D tuning or the modern metal, but in a big ol' slab of mahogany like that, not too high output.....

 ..........yep, Cold Sweats.
-
Don't get carried away with my "modern" comment.
When I say modern I mean something like Accept's latest album, not whatever those dang kids consider hip nowadays

I think VHII's would work too, I like mine in an ash-strat. Though, CS's have this nice crunch and do very well in mahogany. Was thinking about Rebel Yell's too, maybe someone on the forum has them in a mah. guitar and can comment.

I had a Rebel Yell bridge in a thin-bodied, all mahogany Les Paul (no maple top).  Wasn't to my personal taste really, but it's certainly bright/tight enough to work.

Well, Ben recommended Cold Sweats as well, so that makes it pretty much unanimous  :D

I'd like a set of Rebel Yells, but not for an Explorer.

depending on the amp/pedals, I wouldn't rule out the Riff Raff
