Will somebody PLEASE clear up what the advantages/diadvantages are of having a ceramic neck humbucker over an alnico - and vice-versa. I'm playin Drop B Metalcore on a Les Paul, btw. Cheers :)

if you look there is a magnet description thread by TIM where he explains how the different magnets affect the sound

In general the ceramic is tighter in lowend, alnico is tad warmer/looser, however a lot of BKP's alnico's are pretty tight. For metal en downtuning ceramics are the (safe) way to go.

I mean for a neck pickup. I know how it affects the pickup in the bridge position. I just wanted a bit more on how ceramics react when they're played in the neck position, where the sound is warmer?

it does pretty much the same thing.
Gives increased attack, with more focus & more high end extension.
I personally dont like ceramic neck pickups as it destroys one of the only 2 things i use the neck pickup for and that is the nice thick and full clean tones

+1
I haven't tried any BKP ceramics, so maybe there is an advantage with them, but with the few ceramic neck pickups I have tried, I lost way too much for very little (if any) gain.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the same goes more or less for the neckposition. However, I would never choose a ceramic pu for the neck. Alnico has a tonally wider/deeper spectrum, I think.
