The new job is exactly what I'm doing now, but for a rival company.
I've been sticking it out here for a while, what was a wonderful job has turned into a total nightmare over the last 18 months or so.
Lets see what the new place brings, still have to figure out a start date.
I feel.. relief

Good luck man! Sometimes we need change for the better...

Good luck with it :D

Hope the job works out.

Must admit, I thought you were a full-time musician! So you use up your holidays for touring?
Anyway, best of luck with the new job!

yes, 90% of my holidays, 50% of my evenings and 100% of my disposable income :/
worth every second / penny!
Anyway, best of luck with the new job!
thanks mate

theres not a great deal of money to be had in the world of 8bit music ;)
edit: but yes, I do take my musical projects pretty seriously and they are very important to me.

Well, it had crossed my mind that you have somehow amassed a great guitar collection from that Commodore 64 music! :P

last few years i've been averaging a gig every two weeks, some are very well paid, but its rare. mostly its expenses only.
i'm fine with that to be honest - i love to play. wether its a large club for a few hundred quid or a fan-run event for a pint i'll take it!
edit: any true musician would say the same :)

I'm sure you're right. The playing must be rewarding, but trekking around lugging a load of gear would wear me down pretty quickly, I think. :)

Good luck! Hope this one gets better!

you've highlighted the best and worst part of the whole thing! sometimes when carrying a load of old computers, a guitar, mixer, mic stand etc on to a ryanair at 6 in the morning i've thought seriously about packing it in, but i've never actually done it, and don't plan to! :)
other plus points include meeting some truly unique people. Occasionally theres a little spot of tourism on the way which is welcome too - though most times its straight from the airport to the venue and back again - and the punk clubs we play are all similar after a while.
-
Good luck! Hope this one gets better!
hope so too :) its a little bit of a gamble, but i figure its worth it.
-
Congrats on the new job. I agree totally with your philosophy regarding gigs.

Inspired by Tom's post:
My three month notice period is dragging on :? But there just 7 more days to go! :D

Congrats and good luck mate!

Just imagined Philly turning up to a gig with 2 Tokais, 12 warmoth necks, 8 bodies & a selection of Callaham parts but at least he left the bulk under the bed....
