Anyone here from the East coast of America? Irene is looking pretty tetchy - we're sending our NYK office home early so that they can batten down the hatches!
Good luck with it, y'awl...
Mark.

Nope, but I like the song (Eileen in that case). Dexys Midnight Runners wasn't it?

METEOROLOGISTS. Make people respect & fear hurricanes more by giving them scary names like Hitler and Voldemort, not Irene.

NY here...
Not in an evacuation spot, though 5 blocks away is... :?
at least it will give me a break from watering my yard :D
Just need to shrink wrap my guitars and amps...

I am in North Carolina there is nothing yet, but It looks like we are going to get it hard Saturday. Luckily I am inland a ways so all we will get is some storm bands. Most of the coast is evacuated and boarded up.

NYC. 1 block from evac. Have a recording session scheduled tomorrow morning; hope to get it in before the storm hits.
-
It's interesting where the evac areas are.
I've got a mate on Long Island, and he's expecting big trouble...

Always thinking of the music first!

We have touchdown in NC. It's crawling up the East coast. We're not expecting rain to start until 11am, but it's THICK outside. Can't see past 1 block from my window, the fog is super thick. There are hardly any cars about, it's pretty quiet. I should be able to make it to Ultra and back before the winds pick up.

LI has has had hurricane land falls in the past; there has never been a hurricane landfall in NYC, which is why I don't think it will happen. We will still get the cr@p kicked out of us, however, hurricane or no.
NYC has large portions which are at or just below sea level. Lot of my friends have been relocated. My block is a few feet above sea level, but we live on the top floor of a 7 story co-op.

So far, so good. Got 3 of 4 songs tracked and made it back without incident. Latest forecast has 'something' coming thru in 3 hrs. We shall see ...

only time will tell.......be safe...

You too, man! I'm in for the duration now.
-
Good luck guys! Stay Safe.

It's HEEE-eere. Man, is it RAINING!!
Wind is starting to pick up. We have all the windows open -- from our Living Room window (7 floors up), it's quite the light show! Gonna power down PC soon.
-
Y'all take care... Heeehaaaaaw!!!!
-
Just rain, wind and a couple tree branches down by me......
-
All hell broke loose here this morning. Dunno if this is just the eye or we're nearing the end of it.
-
Lamest, most over-hyped storm ever. The tornado touch down last year and the rain 2 weekends ago were far worse!

Definitely .... and this crying wolf prolly gave people a sense of false security if evacuations are necessary when a real heavy duty storm arises...

We got 6" of water in the house. Fortunately all the guitars and amps were moved upstairs, but some speakers got ruined. I actually don't know the real damage as I have been out of the country for the last week and a half. My wife got back Tuesday and said that she is cleaning stagnant water out of the cupboards. We're just waiting for a quote to replace all the sheetrock and possibly the wood floors in 2 rooms.
Hoboken is very low lying and is a flood zone, but this is the first time in almost 12 years that we had any problem. I'm just hoping the insurance covers it (it won't cover the couches or anything like that).
