Title: Contemporary Model for Korina Project
Post by: Vilches3 on August 30, 2011, 05:28:29 PM
So I've just finished writing the specifications for a warmoth project. I know that I either want a Ceramic Warpig or a Miracle man as this guitar will be designed to play more or less like a chainsaw. I don't exactly have any bands that I'm trying to emulate- I guess I just want something that is incredibly abrasive sounding, not too dark, and can handle "weird" chord shapes. I'm not playing any metalcore or mathcore or anything like that, but I do tend to play "odd" shaped chords on the lower strings at a faster grindcore/deathgrind/hardcore type of tempo though I'm not exactly playing any of these styles.

The only thing is, the woods I want include a Black Korina body, a Wenge neck, and an Ebony fingerboard. The guitar will be a bolt on SG (24 3/4 scale) and will only have one pickup- Oh and it will be tuned to drop C. My main question would be- which contemporary model would be best suited to these woods? I'm going for a ceramic model specifically and I am thinking the Miracle Man or Ceramic Warpig since I want an absolute monster- But I'm not ruling out the Aftermath or Painkiller just yet.

Oh yeah and how does the Ceramic Warpig handle leads and "Odd" chords? Thanks a million

Rob

Painkiller. its my fav

I was considering the Painkiller since I imagine it would be great for Death (the band). But was worried it wouldnt have enough low end in a bolt on SG made out of these woods. That and I've heard it has a boxy tone? then again it would be in Drop C so.....I still dont know haha

I use it in a ibanez rgd tuned to b. I also tried it in my gibson v, and i was blown away. so its definetly a gogo for another. the v is tuned for drop b. and i play.. just look at my logo :-) you'll get the idea :-P

a Warpig would be the best for this monster IMO. I think it will rock hell.

Well, your description of the style sounds an awful lot like my band Hexis, and I use a C-pig in my SG-I for that band with great success, so yeah... I'd say go for a C-pig. It has worked beautifully for me for quite some time now!
