We seem to have been doing so many Feline Lions that people might be forgiven for thinking we don't do anything else.
Here is proof if it were needed that we do do make other shapes
(warning - this is a DOUBLE NGD!)

These two have been lurking in our "On the bench section" for way too long
Anyway one of our previous custom build customers who already has two of our beauties was looking for a hardtail strat and saw that we had one being built and asked if we would finish it off for him in a colour of his choice.
Here is what he asked us for and we nailed it exactly right for him.

And whilst we were sending stuff to be painted we thought why not get that Tabby Hybrid we had in the works up to speed as well and do it the same colour. I already knew we were going to fit a tortoiseshell pickguard - custom made with a tele pickup in the bridge position, and thought the tortoiseshell would look great on the aged white finish.
Our Tabby Hybrid is a subtle melding together of Tele and strat shapes. The body is about 70% tele but the lower horn is closer to a strat one - so we could drop a regular strat pickguard in place. Add some strat like contours and the comfort level increases a lot

There are some similarities in spec in terms of timber but also some differences too

Do like that tabby. But I have my eye on a larger cat than that...

The tabby hybrid is very cool! 8)

Not quite yet...

Mmmm, that Tabby looks very nice. The color is great, matches the turtle pickguard very well.
-
The Tabby Hybrid looks ace! :D
A hardtail version with a matching headstock (AndyR :P ) would be awesome.
Strat looks great too, but I'm not sure about the Hipshot bridge - just from a visual perspective.
-
Hmm, a hardtail Sxxxx... Nice!!
-
Agh! Can't see the pics at work again!
I'm liking the descriptions though... :D
-
I like that the hybrid is a singlecut strat rather than just a tele with strat pickups.

You know full well we wouldn't wan't it any other way :huge:
Other than that, I actually really dig that hybrid thingy.

I think he's really nailed it with that one. The best of both worlds, tele shape with the strat contours. Tele bridge with the strat n/m. For me I'd prefer it was a hardtail Tele bridge, though I'm sure that wouldn't be an issue to do. Either way though, I think that's just bloody brilliant. It just looks so right! I also like that it'll upset the purists.
-
Ah well, screw the purists and play what you like. Ticking off stodgy old purists in either camps is a bit of life mission for me. E.g. my Telecaster

Same here... Really yummy guitar.

Thanks to a fab observation by Elliot we dicovered that the Boss tele bridge pickup fitted to this guitar can do a wicked "surf guitar " sound
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/felineguitars/CUSTOM%20BUILT/Tabby%20Hybrid/tabbystrat1-1.jpg)
It was so good I wanted to bust out an old Fender spring reverb unit (I don't sadly own one) but it was instant "pulp fiction"
-
The hybrid looks a bit odd at first but the more I look at it the more I "get" it :)
-
love the colour - like a paler desert sand rather than vintage white. at least that is what the pics make me think of. really suits the tort
-
The hybrid was a total revelation - the boss pickup totally out-strated a strat in that baby - its one of those time you pick up a guitar and the sound you have been struggling to achieve for years just jumps out without any effort. Totally awesome.

I think I'd like it even better in black (with matching headstock, of course) - just to give that optical illusion of being a little smaller. And I think that would look great with the torty plate and black parts. Still really like the white/blonde though!
-
I just love that hybrid guitar.

the hybrid is one of Jonathan's best models I reckon
