Would be cool to get some feedback off you guys - I'm happy with this new high gain amp I've been working on, but its always nice to get other opinions...

Would like to hear it with a mic on it; hard to tell with the room reflections going on.

sounds like it has some beefy low end. is it 4 stage with a follower? or something wild?

That sounds pretty awesome.

I would also love to hear it recorded a bit better.

I never saw you as a Satyricon fan though

Totally sounds the business, especially the Metallica bit. Just an angry Marshall tone with accents in all the right frequencies. My missus was screaming to switch it off, so I couldn't listen long to the second bit. How is it with single notes?

Too much room indeed, you should get some close mic'ed recordings done.

So any more info on the features? Does it have a clean channel? Loop? Pics would be nice.

single notes? - here's clip with just three gain stages (one less than the first clip), sounds pretty nice imo...

With the extra stage added, it's just a bit more saturated, but the core tone is the same.

No clean channel or loop, though they could be added.  I prefer single channel screamers myself, no compromise.

I do need to get a better recording set up, its true.  Best I can do is record into Pro Tools and not bother with the video, just have stills of the amp - I'm just using the video function on my digital camera.

Was thinking of getting a Zoom Q3 as the audio I've heard is good, as it the video quality, BUT I'd ideally like something I can sync up via timecode in ProTools and put a mic in front of the speaker.  Any suggestions?

I like loads of music, just can't play the heavier stuff - my roots are in rock music, I always struggle to play thrash/death.

I saw Satyricon on the Now Diabolical tour, was great upstairs in Newcastle Academy with maybe 150 people max.

this makes me want to get some kind of 4 input marshall chassis and just butcher it.

the  4 stage mode sounds killer
reminds a lot of both  of my own amps (a totally rebuilt high gain '73 Marshall JMP and a Zambelli Hyperdrive, which is also a 4 stage + CF hot rodded marshall)
my amps are very different from each other, though (the JMP is FAT, smooth and very open sounding, while the other is focused, metallic and saturated), but yours displays the best of both :D

Dude, this sounds as if it really grinds in all the right places! Very nice work! I think I speak for everyone else when I say that, we really wouldn't mind the pro tools audio with a still of the amp, I want to hear that awesome tone in all its glory.  :D

Seriously lovely sound, though. Nice one!   :D

Well there are some scribblings on the back of an envelope, however I expect my idea of "high gain" might not be as high gain as others.......................

For anyone following this thread, I've decided to make the gain stages switchable (might as well).  so, I've got my long-standing 'hotrod' mode (which is a tuned-up version of the 2203 circuit) then the 'hotrod+' circuit which is secret (ner ner, ha ha).

I'm also gonna have switchable master volumes - a normal pre-PI master like Marshall always used, and the second will be the 'Jose' master with the clipping diodes.

It's aimed squared as a ROCK amp, but of course will do metal (as you're heard).  I'll probably do a version where you can mix/match any two of the plexi/2203/hotrod+/hotrod++ circuits for more tonal options.
