So, I have 2 guitars, one with passive pickups (BC Rich), and one with active (Jackson).
I now want active EMG's in my passive guitar, and passive Bareknuckles in my active guitar, because I like to be a difficult asshole.
How hard will this be? Something I can do by myself?
If I've understood correctly:
I remove the EMG's and pots from my Jackson.
I remove the passive PU's from my BC Rich.
I put the EMG's into my BC Rich, along with the pots.
I put the Bareknuckles into my Jackson, along with some new pots.
Do I need to do anything besides this?
Do I need to shield the pickups more than they already are?
Also, my BC Rich has a $%ton of knobs (reverse phase, split coils, a "voicing" kinda knob, and two tone knobs) and I've only got the pots that came along with the EMG's in my Jackson (2 volume, 2 tone). Would I have to replace ALL the electronic switches in my BC Rich? Is it even possible to coil split EMG's?

Its just a simple case of swapping everything over.
And no standard emgs cant be coil split just the 89 i believe.
and you only have to put as many pots in as you require/want
If you dont want to wire up the extra pots just pop them in unwired to fill the holes

I'd really like to be able to use the "voicing" knob. It's round (like a volume knob) but it only has 5 positions, and it sounds like it controls the attack or presence or something? Would I be able to use this?

Ya know what? I really like to be able to have a shiteload of knobs, so I think I'll just sell my EMG's and put in some Bareknuckles instead :P
TWO BKP guitars? Has he gone MAD?! Nope. Just Chuck Testa.

just thought i would mention - you cant split normal emgs, but they have (relatively) recently introduced the dual mode series which have 3 coils in the pickup so it can either be used as a normal humbucker or a stacked humbucker for single coil ish sounds but still hum cancelling
seems like an overly complex solution to the problem to me :?

Thank's for the help guys, but I already found a buyer for my EMG's, so from here on out, it's BKP's all the way!
