Hey,
I just got this new Les Paul style axe (see the ncd and ngd thread) and it has EMG passives in it. I am surprised how good they sound to me, as they are to me like better versions of the active ones, which I did never like with my gear. Just better in many ways. I will try around with them some more but I also have to dream about what could be.
So this axe is 5 piece maple and mahahony neck (moslty maple), neck through with mahahony wings.
I feel it is rather dark and warm (lots more than my solidbody mahagony Dean Vendetta 1.7).
I will drop this baby to drop A# to play In Flames with, but I am not totally after their rythm tone. If any In Flames tone should be reference it would be a more Hi Fi version of the Reroute to Remain sound (to me it felt middier and livelier back then). That is also show by my other gear.
My setup is a Hardwired Orange Tiny Terror (IF got that baby hanging around too) into a (also new Marshall 2061CX 2x12" cab).
So for the bridge I going towards an Aftermath as I like the clips and think its voicing would go nice with the qualitys of the guitar and the tuning. (though I am settled here)
For the neck...I am a bit more after the actual In Flames lead sound, that saturated, warm, singing lead sound that is hi gain yet clean while retaining some organic feel.
So I have either the aftermath neck or the MM (the usually recomendation for IF) neck in my sights here...but I am not sure.
What would you think would give me the desired sound in that axe and go well with the (probably aftermath) bridge?
PS: HS P90s are not off limits!
Hope to hear every idea!
Cheers (literally, prost guys)! *opens a beer*

Come on guys, someone must have an idea about this. I would not be asking if I did not value your opinion!

A dark guitar tuned down that low - I guess it's either Aftermath or Painkiller. Anything else will probably not be tight enough.
Cheers Stephan

Why not a calibrated Aftermath-set?

Why not a calibrated Aftermath-set?
Thanks for the replys darkbluemurder and Telerocker!
@ Tele: Yeah, that will probably be it, but I was / am not sure if the neck would have enough body as the AM is very bright (which is great for what I need in the bridge). So you recon it will be full enough at that tuning and with that guitar to bring enough fullness for the IF style leads?
If so, thanks for the advice.
I guess the PK neck would be too dirty for me. Same with the bridge, though it is more tempting.
