Title: Emerald 7 - Big grinding metal tone
Post by: Nolly on September 30, 2011, 05:27:17 PM
Here's a very repetitive clip of the Emerald bridge pickup I now have installed in my Dæmoness Cimmerian 7-string. I absolutely love this pickup! Tight like a ceramic pickup, but much smoother in the extreme highs, super clear, and sounds huge!
Voicing-wise, think of it as PAF-style. The mid-output isn't that noticeable until you roll back to mid-gain or clean tones when it blooms in the way a high-output pickup cannot. It flat out kills for fusiony stuff.

This is only double-tracked by the way. The equipment is the usual Axe-FX/Toontrack/Trilian.

I was waiting for you to upload a Emerald 7 clip!

I might have to try one when I get my 7 string!

this is why i love my low ouputs. there's a certain raunch to playing the big chords that modern pickups just don't have! great tone!

You know I wish there was a metal demo track or even all the types of demo tracks for all the pick-ups because I would've never even though of this pickup being so kick ass at metal lol. Ty guy for enlightening my day!

Glad you found it interested to hear. I'll be doing an Emerald modern metal clip for the site at the beginning of next month.

Ideally we would have done a lot more clips, but we faced a mammoth task getting as much done as we did - over 250 clips in 5 days!
Initially we didn't want to confuse potential buyers too much by showing every pickup doing every clip, so we stuck to the main styles that each pickup specialises in. However, we've been steadily adding to the site clip library since then and will be continuing to do so.
