Title: NGD with BKP content
Post by: Telerocker on October 05, 2011, 09:45:15 PM
Ran into it and could not resist. You either love or hate the design. Tele meets Les Paul. It's a 2010 Saint Blues Missisippi Bluesmaster. Made in Korea and assembled in Memphis blabla... Mahogany body with veneer maple top, bolt-on mahogany neck, telestyle headstock, vintagestyle tuners, string thru body with strat-bridge, 22 to my taste a bit tiny frets and two humbuckers. The owner sold it with St. Blues gigbag, two sets of strings and fresh installed ...BKP Mules! For the in my opinion modest price of 375 euro. A set of Mules does here around 250 euro. So not a bad deal, I think.
It's quite light so it should be comfortable on stage. The neck is easy to play. If you're used to a tele, it will feel familiar. The body, quite tiny like a Gibson Blueshawk, rings nice and the guitar has good sustain. With the Mules it sounds like a lightweight Les Paul or a very fat telecaster. Great for blues and classic rock. Warren Haynes-tones, no problem.

That's cool!  :D

The St Blues body shape doesn't quite work for me, but I like the idea of Les Paul meets Tele.

Seems a very appropriate guitar for the "Telerocker"!  :)

Cheers Philly. I agree the shape is something you have to get used to (or never will :-) and in this respect the classic Les Paul-shape is hard to beat when it comes to sheer beauty. I would have hesitated to buy the Saint Blues when it did not had the Mules in it.

(Btw, it's more soul, funk, jazz and dance at the moment. I will ask the band for a proper rockset  8) )

I will have to look at it for a few more hourse before I might get used to it, but the idea sounds interresting.

At the price certainly a great thing, even if it would just be a rarity for your collection. And in the end it is all about the feel and sound, which from your description sound really cool.

So congrats!

Nice looking guitar.  The price you made seems very good too with a set of Mules thrown in. :D

Nice score :)
Those St Blues guitars are one of the few hybrid shapes that actually work. Looks killer!
