Just got back from the hospital where I've had the epithelium of my right cornea removed.
I have been suffering for almost 2 years now from recurrent corneal erosion - where a bit of damage to the front middle of my eye has been healing partially and then getting ripped off every so often (up to once a day).
After much shenanigans, I was just on the table this morning, where they used an alcohol solution and mechanical scr@ping to remove the top layer of the eye, then they put a bandage lens (no-optical-power contact lens) over the eye to allow the new cells to grow all at the same time.
And now the anaesthetic eye drops are wearing off.
Well, I had imagined how it might be, and told myself it wouldn't be like that. Unfortunately, it was exactly how I imagined it, and how reading the above you can probably imagine it might be.
Still, if it fixes the problem, it will all be worth it.

Do you want a tele as a get well pressy?
-
I'd take the tele over the operation again, but only so I could have fun breaking that mother****er to tiny pieces and burning it.
-
You'll have a new way of see a tele now, I'm sure... You're never too old to fall in love :P
Good luck with the recovering! :)
-
Ouch - sounds nasty. Can you watch tele without any pain?
Hope the recovery goes well.
-
That doesn't sound too pleasant :S
I hope your recovery is fast

Roo can never watch Tele without any pain....... as you well know.
-
Dang Roo! Get well soon mate!
-
Rooooooooo, that sounds nasty as $%.
I found a V with a tele bridge, pickups and control knobs the other day if it makes you feel better.

that was just cruel :(
-
Sorry Tony...
Although I have to say I think those TeeVee guitars look wicked. Even better than the TeleMaster.
-
Well they look better than any other variant on the V design ive seen... at least it isnt reversed.
With a normal headstock i could actually gladly own one.
I expected it to be a lot worse
-
Ouch, that doesn't sound like fun! Get well soon!
-
Sheesh Roo, only just spotted this... Hope it's healing OK.
-
I hope you get well soon but please accept my apologies - never having heard of this condition I thought you were saying that Corenal Epithelium had released a new album. I was curious about the type of music they played......
-
hope its getting better man, that sounds nasty.
here's something easy on the eye and ear...

sounds... unpleasant. at least you have a good story to horrify new acquaintances with :)
as to the TeeVee, i absolutely love it. the only problem is the $3500 asking price :( maybe i could throw one together out of parts?

Warmoth do a V body - no option for a Tele bridge or control cavity, but you could get one with no bridge rout and a rear control cavity, then just have a "cosmetic" Tele control plate on top. I'm warming to the idea.....

after i wrote that i did go check Warmoth :) i think it might be better getting someone like Sims to do it, and indeed i'm seriously considering thinking about it :P
-
oh, apologies to Roo and his sore eye for dragging things in a vaguely tele-ish direction. at least it's V shaped

I'd be very interested to see what they'd charge. The Sims business looks pretty impressive, but expensive - the only thing I've bought from them was a custom scratchplate which cost quite a lot.
-
hmm, very expensive? well, if i get any prices i will let you know how scary they are
-
Well, it's quite hard to work out actual prices because they have long lists of options rather than totals - so for a body its a blank, then so much for routing, so much for body contouring, so much for binding etc.... I suspect it adds up quite quickly.
-
i just saw that. could, indeed, add up handsomely. well, no harm in asking. i was thinking about a mirror scrathplate for another guitar too, i might ask about it as well
