Well, let me start that I'm a regular at the www.BCRichPlayers.com, So naturally i have a lot of BC Riches, but I dont have any of the cr@p they made in the LATE 80's and through out the 90's when Class Axe owned the company and ran their reputation to the grown. All of my BC's are either USA customshops or early 80's MIJ models which were every bit just as good as the OLD USA's.
First I'll start with my rig
2003 VHT Pittbull 100 CL modded to use KT-88's
1975 Sunn Model T (which has since been sold)
Emperor 6x12 loaded with 4 Fane Medusa 100w and 2x Eminence Swamp Thangs
1973 Sunn Coliseum Slave which is powering the Sunn 412L loaded with 2x Fane Medusa 100w and 2x Eminence Swamp Thangs

my pedal board

Now the axes. First off is my main baby. A 2009 USA Custom shop BC Rich Ironbird which I custom ordered in 2008. It's Mahogany wings Maple neck and 5A quilted Maple top. Neck through construction loaded with BKP Warpigs and a Kahler tremolo (I am a kahler nut)

next is another guitar I custom ordered in 2007. A 2008 USA Custom shop BC Rich mockingbird with the same specs as the Ironbird with the exception of some cosmetic things. This baby has a pair of Painkillers in her. It's used as my back up primarily at the moment, but will be seeing more use with more drone doom band starting to gig again.

Here I have a VERY RARE 1981 BC RICO (pre BC Rich) Eagle NJ Prototype. this guitar was actually a sample from the factory that would eventually make the BC Rich NJ series back in the early 80's. It's a real odd ball as it has all vintage USA hardware and electronics which I LOVE! It has a Warpig and a dimarzio PAF which I intend to swap out for a Mule. This is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I call it my Gibson killer. because it has a very Les Paul/ SG Like tone with its all mahogany, yet neck through construction. I've been using it for my new stoner sludge band. I really like that it stands out but still retains a very classy vintage vibe and itsn't overly "metal" like the stuff BC Rich is known for today

NExt I have a 1983 BC Rich Wave. It's a MIJ PRE-NJ series Neckthrough. On the BCR Forum we call em Nagoya NT's because they were made in Nagoya Japan. It's Loaded with a Warpig and a Dimarzio PAF which I intend to swap out again for a Mule.

Here I have a 1984 Nagoya Japan NT Mockingbird. It was in really sad shape when i got it. the metallic red paint was practically gone and it really looked like shite. I really wanted to do something different tonally with this one so I decided to try the Duncan p-90 hotrails... 3 of them... well as cool as they are especially clean, I find that they just don't have the quality or clarity of a BK, so this baby will eventually get a warpig in the bridge, a mule in the neck and i am still undecided on the middle... any suggestions?

What's this?! anothe BC Rich? are you suprised? hahah Here I have a 2009 USA Ignitor that's stock. It doesnt get much play at the moment, It may get the axe, really nice guitar just not crazy about the shape actually. I may tune it to C to add a bit of variety to the collection

Now on to basses. These babies are both Nagoya Japan NT's as well, both are 1984 and kahler equipped. I wouldnt have it any other way!

Impressive. Why the Holy Grail /and/ Cathedral?
You have me GASing at the 3P Mockingbird and cabs.
-
I use the holy grail on all the time for a much smaller setting for my dirty tone, the cathedral pedal is for my cleans which are much more cavernous. nice to see another bearing the O)). That 3 pickups mock really plays amazing, but im not crazy about the pickups in it. due for an upgrade

I am le jealous.
That Ironbird is sex and I'm not even that big a fan of pointy guitars anymore.

thanks man. I waited a year to have her made and it was worth every penny of the $3400 i paid.
I love my pointy guitars. to my guitars are art and I love guitars that are as much statement as they are functional. I'm noticing there isnt very many BCR player here hahah.
-
Nice! :D I'm loving the Eagle and Japanese Mockingbird - because, as you say, they're not overly "Metal" like the newer designs.
I've always been a fan of the Mockingbird and Bich shapes in particular - but never owned or even played one.
-
nice to see another bearing the O)).
Cheers!

I have had a BC Rich Warlock and Ibanez Xyphos. Both were incredibly comfortable and could be played in almost any position. The same cannot be said of most guitars.
I wound up enjoying the tone that comes from a guitar with a big ass on it, so my tastes in aesthetics have gravitated towards the Explorer, LP, and SG shapes.
I'm pretty surprised about the lack of BCR players, on here, myself.

you'd definately like the sound of an Eagle Wave or Mock. Like i said, I call the Eagle my "gibson killer" It's very SGish in shape and is tons more comfy as well. the Neckthrough construction really sets it above a gibbo IMO. And I lOVE SG's... jsut dont own one anymore since owning this

you're missing out! gotta keep in mind BCR were pioneers back in the day, they were the first to do a heel-less neck through construction and the on board electronics are fantastic. you can nail ANY tone from an old BCR. I hichly recommend getting one now. there has been a lot of top shelve vintage BCR's hitting ebay with the recession and its reallya buyers market. unfortunately i cant afford to buy most of them because im one of the 99% who hasnt gotten any richer in the past 8 years or so hahah. but i gotta tell ya if you can, now is the time to buy one. because the old ones are not getting any cheaper. but you do see a bit more of them coming out of the woods in this economy.
-
nice collection bro!
-
Jeepers! It's Metal you'll be playing then???
:D
Nice collection.
-
thanks all, hahah yeah you can say that.
-
Really nice collection. I was just reading the BC Rich article in the new ish of Premier Guitar, and then saw this thread. Awesome!

I want that ignitor bad. I always wanted one. Its Jon Schaffers fault :S

Same here, unfortunately. One local dealer has an US made Bich. I played this absolutely beautiful looking guitar - red quilt maple top, neck-through construction but I found it just a horrible playing and sounding guitar. I could have obtained a good price on it because the dealer was inable to sell it. That was three years ago. Guess what - he still has it.
Cheers Stephan
-
BTW: very nice collection. That Ironbird is a killer! I also liked the basses with the Kahler trems - very unusual indeed.

you sure it was a USA? they did a "Caibre series" a few years back that has often been mistaken for USA's becaue of the "R logo" next time you go, would you mind snapping photos of it and it's serial number?

Thanks man! Money permitting (which it doesn't at the moment :? ) I'd love to get a nice Bich. If possible without the gazillion switches.

well it's near impossible to find a vintage one without the full circuit, but the 2nd Bernie SR and Bernie Jr era and HHI ones they're fairly more common. one of my favorites I've come across would be this one

You coul also order one from the man who designed the guitar himself Neal Moser at http://www.nealmoserguitars.com/
