The Fender Marauder principle!

I wonder if the pickups have to be super-hot, or is it more complex than that?

They did something similar on some of the Telemaster models, now that I think about it.

The pickups don't have to be super hot but the magnets need to be strong and have a big field.

I have experimented with ghost pickups but I was never quite pleased with the result.

The original Telemasters that came out of the Fender Custom Shop took this approach too. At the time I thought it was quite a neat idea.

hmyeah maybe something else should be changed so the middle/neck PUs aren't too far away from the strings. I would also imagine that the scratch plate might take some transparency away, too.
