I posted before about downtuned pickups and finally went for the Painkiller in the bridge and I have to say it kicks serious arse (I'll post a clip shortly).
Now I've got my metal/ distortion sound sorted I want a neck pickup that give you fat sounding cleans, I'm trying to defeat my thin sounding POD Farm amp sim in that regard. The software does do nice cleans but they are not thick enough when single picking strings and sounds weak to me.
Many thanks again!

The Miracle Man neck pickup is pleasantly fat sounding and should suit your application

Ok thanks - any other suggestions, I hear good things about the Cold Sweat as well.

I haven't tried it...but maybe an Aftermath Neck?
It's description seems similar to what you want.

I wouldn't describe the cold sweat as fat. Abraxas or Holydiver would be my pick for that.

I guess you are referring to the Cold Sweat neck. It's a good sounding pickup - I have two of them - but considerably lower output than the PK. If you want to overcome a thin sounding set up you might look at the Warpig - I read more than once that there are guitar players who play Jazz with it.
Cheers Stephan

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but how about a PK neck? Yes, it's ceramic, so may not be quite what you have in mind, but it is a neck pickup to match the PK bridge after all! :)

I was thinking about the PK neck as well although I got the PK to clear up downtuned distorted sounds so I'm not sure I need the same characteristics for cleans.
Listening to the sound clips the Holydiver sounds closest to the sound I'm looking for so far so cheers for that. The only thing is is there going to be any noticeable change in output between the PK and the HD when flicking back and forth?

I've handed in my guitar to the shop who are going to order in a Holydiver 7 in! I listened to clips on here and Youtube and it sounds closest to what I require - the solos sound great as well.

I was just going to throw in the idea of trying a HSP90 in the neck theyre really fat and are excellent for both cleans & leads

very very good choice, it's low dc resistance puts ppl off matching it with high power bridge pups but it is fat and beautiful, you're gonna like it mate!
