I have an ash body/rw neck Tele that's in need of a bridge pickup. The neck radius is 10". I'm torn between the 52 and 55. I'm looking for fat twang along the lines of Brad Paisley and Brent Mason without losing the vintage character. I also play rock and roots gigs so I would like to achieve those tones too.
My Tele sounds close to a Black Guard Tele due to the Ash Body. I want to twang but I don't want to pierce eardrums.
Tim recommends the Flat 55. I wasn't able to find any country clips of the 52's so I wanted to get a few more opinion before ordering.
Thanks,
Billy

Thanks, I love them! I got the bridge only. It sounds old school without the harsh treble. It can do old school country yet can also rock. I was surprised at how well it sounded with higher gain settings.
The most impressive thing about them was how well they react with my tone control. The pickup is on the bright side (not harsh) and when you roll down the tone it doesn't take away anything from the wound strings. This is the only tele pickup I've tried that does this. The others brands lost something on the wound strings when rolling off a little highs with the tone control. This IMO makes them extremely versatile. I'm not one to get worked up over pickups but dang what a toneful pup.
I'll be ordering some Strat pickups soon.

Great that it ended well!

Great man! Btw, I steer my Tele with the tonecontrol too, it's the tool for various sounds.

Sounds like some sound advice from TIm there. What strat pups are you thinking of? I once had a strat with Apaches - very good. I got the base plate on the bridge pick up and am sure it added some bonus win to the tone.
