Title: Medium or high output for Les Paul?
Post by: Dubhghaill on October 14, 2011, 05:18:03 PM
I'm trying to decide whether I want some Rebel Yells or War Pigs in my 7 string Les Paul. The music I play is kind of like Mastodon. I like the clarity of chords with tons of Orange Rockerverb gain.

I have a ceramic War Pig in my Ibanez S which is about half the weight of the Les Paul and it sounds great. But plenty of musicians seem to get the tone I like with standard Gibson Les Pauls, which have medium output pickups.

What would you recommend?

riff raffs for major clarity

if you really really want higher output, than the cold sweat is your guy

Cold Sweats, I'd say, but lower output hb's like the RiffRaffs will provide the tightness and clarity too.
