We all like making loud things louder and we all like messing around with pedals. So, what has been your favourite booster pedal(s) and why?
For me, my old HBE Big D (sniff) just sang for leads, the bigger option was awesome and made your guitar sound like a synth with an octave pedal.
The Blackstar HT DISTX gets a mention for me too. Using it to drive my JCM800, it sounded massive for metal rhythm. It's killer on bass too!

JuanSolo's Klon(e). I have three of 'em, one for each rig!
-
Does a DOD 250 count as a boost? I had one of those, but sold it to gwEm without ever having used it.
-
I use a Toadworks Dual Boost for big clean stuff. You can mix fat and clean-boost to your taste. Great to fatten up tele's and strat's.
Further: Emma Reezafratzitz and 1981 TS9.

Xotic EP booster, small but full of powerful goodness!
-
My Ibanez TS-808 adds all the push I need in the places I need it.

You beat me to it

I have a carl martin hot drive and boost, love both bits but boost is so nice. So want to try the klon clone may have to try horseheads

i've used a couple of overdrives, a Marshall Guv'Nor and a Thundertomate Overdrive+ mainly, both with very good results. the only actual booster i've spent time with is the Thundertomate Phil Hilborne fat treble booster, and it is a fabulous pedal, with the right amp. masses of great sounding boost, and can push a barely ticking over amp into screaming distortion! i recently tried a Carl Martin Hydra Boost through a late sixties Marshall head, and it sounded awful. i've just bought a Keeley Time Machine boost, but it's just arrived and i haven't tried it yet.
so the simple answer :) my favourite boost, so far, is the Thundertomate Fat TB.
-
as of now, an amptweaker tight boost. lots of gain on tap and the option of dialling in a c--ked wah sound for solos. the tight knob is awesome as well.
-
Mxr Custom Shop GT-OD, best TS-tye pedal i've used

anytime mate you know that. I love my Klone & Juan's SHO
-
I like the Digitech Bad Monkey for the classic tubescreamer boost a lot.
But mostly I use my T-Rex Michael Angelo Batio overdrive, because it only adds gain and doesn't cut the low end or color the sound too much. Many overdrives I feel either cut the bass too much or add their own midrange color to the sound.

A Klon(e) is on my list too.

And me, albeit my clone, which is on all the time. Even when I'm sleeping, it sounds that good.

Digitech Bad Monkey. Fantastic pedal for not a lot of money.
Keeley modded TS9DX Flexi 4x12. Expensive but a very good overdrive pedal

your favourite boost is one you've never tried?(!)

My Maxon OD808 works a treat!

Dirt: Xotic EP
Cleans: Xotic RC

i like my booster built right into the guitar. Neal Moser makes the best one on the planet

I just bought a Way Huge Green Rhino Mk II, I like it more than the bad monkey I had. The output is insane!
-
I like different boosts for different applications. But my favourites/most used are:
Thundertomate Phil Hilborne boost
z.vex SHO
Nick Greer Sweetback Driver
The boost section on the Xotic BB Preamp
Maxon OD820
-
For a clean boost I use a Danelectro Transparent OD Mk2 with the gain off and the 12db switch on. No need to worry about the cr@ppy pots because only the volume control is used.
Otherwise its my Lovepedal Eternity Fuse (which works even better twinned with the Dano pedal)
-
For Marshall style amps, the Maxon OD9 does it for me.
20 years ago, I used a mates' TC Electronic BoosterDistortion (or something like that) into my 2210.
It turned a harsh and lifeless amp into a firebreathing thrashing monster. Should have bought that one off him...
-
this is not me, but here is a good demo of a booster built into the guitar.

Dirt - MXR Classic Overdrive and my trusty old (beat to shite) SD-1
Clean/crunch - Lovepedal Eternity Burst
-
Clinch FX E.P. Pre & a H.B.E. Germania.
Can be a little noisy together but sound awesome. Anyone else a fan of trebleboosters?

Versions of the same pedal
Hoochee mama Drive
Clark Gainster
Barber LTD

Versions of the same pedal
Hoochee mama Drive
I must admit that Hoochee Mama Drive is a really nice bit of kit!
I've managed to find a very small selection of pedals I like for certain things - depending on the guitar.
The one thing that always works is my modded Boss GE-7 though, so thats my 'all time'.
-
My favourite boost is normally none.
But I like my award session JD10 most, when I do feel the need to.
-
Boobtube (it's a very amp dependent effect. Loves low wattage, single channel / clean amps. 9v version on the way). Klone a close second.
