:o :o :o :o :o :o 8) :D
May I introduce PRS Private Stock Signature Limited #37 in "Rainforest" - the only one of the run of 100 in this colour. Stock specs with a stoptail, "sinker" mahogany neck and Pattern Wide Fat neck profile.
Can't wait to pic her up in the morning...

Holy cow! That is stunning. Almost lost for words! Enjoy it mate.
-
thats pretty
-
I'm told it looks better in the flesh :o
-
what pickups in that one front looks smaller than back in pic
-
Pickups are unique to this model for now and are "408s". The neck is smaller, and the bridge larger, than a regular humbucker. The mini toggles activate coil splits, but there are extra turns added to the split coil to turn it into a proper single coil in spec, rather than a compromised half-humbucker with the associated low output. Supposedly the splits give a tonal change, but not a volume change...
-
Meh... s'all right if ya like that sorta thing....
PDT_003
-
very nice :D
-
That top looks stunning!
-
The Private Stock guys certainly hold back the good stuff! The colour helps too, it's exclusive to PS guitars and there are probably under 10 guitars worldwide in that colour.
-
Very nice stuff. I am very interrested in how you find playability and sound, especially with those PUs.
-
It's quite green! Congrats mate, I'll make sure I've had treacle sandwiches before I have a play! ;)
-
Beautiful! How do you like those pickups?
-
vveeeerrrrrrryyyy nice :) i thought it couldn't match the Modern Eagle, and i think i'd still pick the Eagle myself, but that looks stunning.
Health to enjoy, mate
-
That is a very striking instrument to be sure. I must be honest and say I'd still pick the DGT but you seem like a very happy man and that's all that counts! Hope you're as delighted, if not more, when you see it in the flesh.
-
Impressive! Most impressive!
-
Don't normally like 'pretty' guitars but by jebus that's stunning PDT_010
-
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!
I shall have to wait until I get home to see the picture! $%ing work computer! :x
-
I really don't pay much attention to flamed maple, but that is an amazing specimen they picked for the top. It looks great with the different colors.
-
I don't like PRS's, flame tops or blingy colours and yet that blows me away. Effing awesome guitar, you're going to be inundated with comments wherever you go with that one. Very well done mate.
-
that looks jaw droppingly stunning. i'd never aspire to own such a guitar myself (mini / fullsize pickup combo is my cup of tea though) - but my days it looks effing great. the flame is so deep you could practically swim in it!
how many PRSes do you own now? are you planning a career change to law? :P
-
Ha ha!
I own three PRSs - Modern Eagle, DGT and as of tomorrow this Sig Ltd :)
-
Thats is very nice!!! the rainforest green made me think of Predator as soon as i saw the guitar
-
:o
Damn!
-
Dave........ wow..... see you tomorrow! On a serious note, I have never seen a green guitar that I like... PRS, Suhr, Tyler, Grosh...... until now! That looks absolutely fantastic and I really thought that even just on an asthetic level you were going to be disappointed when comparing it to the Eagle, but I'm happy for you... it's a head turner. Now, I'm just going to have a big piece of humble pie......
-
That is lovely mate. Love those p90s. Would be much easier to see if there wasn't that big green thing in the way :)
-
Cheers Don - you'll have to pop up sometime :)
Matt - oooooo, you are a one...
-
Awesome bud, congrats.
-
Dave - if you want I can look after this for you on the weekends. Will save you having to cart it to and from Manchester. Let me know if you're agreeable, it's no hassle for me - I'll do anything to help out a mate
-
I'm usually quite Tory but I find that absolutely stunning! Congrats!
The birds look wicked too - I hadn't been a fan before this.
Looking forward to more pics!
-
Im not one for PRS or super fancy finishes but it does look nice but definitely is not something i would own
-
Thats is very nice!!! the rainforest green made me think of Predator as soon as i saw the guitar
I had similar jungley thoughts. The name "Rainforest" really suits it perfectly.
Anyone remember Corona fizzy pop from the '70s? They had a "Tropical" flavour - yes, it was green - and the guitar really reminds me of that!
-
Very nice indeed. My son hankers after a PRS-I dare not let him see these pics. I suppose I can wait until it appears in seconds out in a few months.
-

Miaow!
-
Harsh Mr38th! :o This one's a complete keeper - too many stars aligned for it to happen.
Off to bed for a restless 5hrs kip before I pick her up!
-
:aww: :censored: OMG !Stunning :crazy2:!I thought green was not such a good idea but this....is awesome! Now,you have to tell us everything about her sound, pups, playability,PS quality etc. :) Congrats & enjoy :drink:!
-
Very beautiful guitar - interested to hear what the 408 pickups sound like. Must confess I'm not a green guitar fan (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=21073.msg283367;topicseen#msg283367 (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=21073.msg283367;topicseen#msg283367)), although the top is stunning, to me the colour makes it look like a zebra with jaundice  - I went for Amber Black on my Studio...very boring I know :( - I'll still try and outbid 38thBeatle when it appears in Seconds Out though
-
Nice one :D
I, too, wasn't sure about the idea of "green" on the original discussions. I like green, one day I might actually get a guitar with a green finish, but I wasn't sure how it would look on this. With one pic of the actual beast, though, yep, it's fab.
I hear what they're saying about "it's even better in the flesh". I remember everyone drooling about Jonathan's (FelineGuitars) emerald Lion when he first unveiled it on here, and I thought "oh yeah, nice enough" from the pics. But when I saw it in the flesh it was a whole couple of levels better. His later pics seemed to do it more justice, but still not quite as drop-dead gorgeous as the thing really is. Maybe it's something about trying to capture green guitars in a photograph?
Looking forward to hearing what you make of it when it's actually in your hands. It's got a lot to live up to now! :D
-
:Dcooler than an awful lot of very cool things! 8)
-
You home yet Dave?
-
Looks cool also because it's an unusual color. I don't share the fascination for this type of guitar, but I can appreciate its quality and craftsmanship. I'm also pretty sure it plays and sounds well. It's not very rock'n roll though, more a Bentley than a Shelby so to speak.
-
Its a cool colour for sure and I bet it plays like a dream, however PRS's don't speak to me in the way Gibsons do. Saying that, it's worth noting that I feel the same about most other non-Gibsons.
-
You home yet Dave?
Nah ..... he's still with Mark in the shop picking out his next 'number 1' guitar.... PDT_004
-
I'm home, had family round all day so just starting to play with the new toy.
Initial thoughts? Best looking guitar in the world ever, and the Modern Eagle has met its match...
-
Dave nice to hear you finally got your guitar. It looks very tasty. Hope it turns out to be every bit has good as you hoped. Enjoy!
-
Cheers matey - when do you get your Tele hybrid?
A quick review:
She is an absolute stunner, and after some time with her I'm made up she turned out so well!
I thought she'd have a job being the equal of my Modern Eagle, but blow me if she doesn't better her and raise the bar! Fantastic clarity, loads of punch, warm yet defined bottom and and a lovely 7.5lb-ish weight. In contrast my DGT is a little heavier, probably just under 8lbs, and the Eagle is around 8.5lbs.
Surely it can't get any better than this? The single coil switching can be subtle, depending how much gain you have dialed in, so in that respect they're proper single coils. No volume drop, just the tonal change you would expect. Really, really impressive.
The whole guitar resonates while you play more than anything I've ever played before, and single notes just ring and sing and ring and sing...
I foresee us having a VERY long and happy future together!

Sounds awesome!
But knowing your cutthroat approach to guitar collecting ( ), I'm starting to fear for the future of the ME!

No - I would bet the DGT will go first :D
-
Nah, the ME is safe. It has way too much of my DNA in it now. It's nicely different in tone, and feels like a comfy pair of trainers :)
The DGT is the best gigging substitute I've yet tried. If the trem starts to annoy me, that'll be the reason to move it on...
-
I hope you keep them all a while. The ins and outs of your guitar collection are as head-spinning as mine*. I feel like I need a bit of stability in my BKP forum environment.
(* That said, I am contemplating a relatively major clearout exercise next week. Not really reducing the numbers overall, but I seem to have absolutely no immunity to GAS at the moment. Gotta fund it somehow. :| )
-
Glad to hear it exceeded my expectations! And as you know your PRS's I thrilled it's as good as you say. You know you say the ME is like an old pair of trainers right? Well, listen to this... that's exactly how I imagined that guitar! I want one of those... I want to gig the cr@p out of it whilst wearing my faded Levi's, T shirt and worn Addidas SL76's and not really giving a shite about anything else! Good for you Dave, all the best to you and your guitars!

Sounds exciting... How many lorrys are you using to send them to the buyers?
Looks really good the new guitar, Dave. Is this pickup a double-tele pickup??
-
I foresee us having a VERY long and happy future together!
You do start out with the best of intentions and we all love to see the pictures of the big day, hopefully one or two of you together...
But then you love em and leave them.
Where have we seen that before... Mmmm?

Probably none, because I'm not expecting any buyers prepared to pay a decent price (not letting anything go for peanuts like the last few I've sold!)
-
it sounds wonderful Dave, i wouldn't judge it against the M.E. until you've lived with it a while though ;) for some reason, i hope you end up preferring the Eagle, just because it's lovely
-
Looks really good the new guitar, Dave. Is this pickup a double-tele pickup??
It's a "normal" humbucker, just with bigger coils :)

Yes, that was what I ask, the tele bridge pu is bigger than the strat and humbuckers coil... Like a lot this idea :)
How does it sound?
-
If those pick ups sound as good as they look they must sound awesome.
Dave... come on bud, we... I... need to see some detailed pics, I need to see the PRSi family.... I think i'm nore excited about this guitar than you are!!!! Ha ha ha
-
I'll need to get some good pics using Mrs Twinfan's SLR, but here are a few I've just grabbed now with my phone:
The high gloss nitro glistening in the sun:

The PS Eagle headstock with Signature banner:

The back is vintage natural with subtle figuring all over it:

Another of the back showing the way the thin finish has sunk into the grain (as on my Modern Eagle):

Detail of the top colour and the stains:

The tasty 408 pickups:

i don't mean to be vulgar, but "gulp" i just saw how much one of these costs. it better be good! :) it looks truly spectacular. i still prefer the M.E.'s look myself, it just looks like it came from the 50's, this is like a modern version. i wish i owned something with Mammoth ivory on it :)
stupid mammoth, going extinct :(

can you get them with Dodo-beak?
stunning looking guitar btw Dave.
-
Hell yeah Dave... f'in f'in f'in hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D
-
Dodo beak! Ha ha ha!
Cheers guys, and yes it should be special for what it costs. However, it is so I'm dead chuffed :)
It's definitely a guitar for the tone-hounds out there. The differences from my ME and even the DGT are reasonably subtle, but even Mrs Twinfan commented on how good it sounded and could even describe the differences. I think she's been hanging around me far too long
It's the same with the resonance, playability and overall feel. If you play in a punk band through a solid state combo this probably isn't the guitar for you! It's an Eric Johnson/Joe Bonamassa thing, now if only I could play like them.....
P.S. I take it you like it, Don?
-
But what amp are you playing it through? This is for sale http://www.maverick-music.com/vintage-amps/1981-dumble-vintage-amp-ods-10040w-steve-farris ;p
-
I'll pass, thanks ;)
I mostly use my AFD100 at home.

I don't get the whole Dumble thing - they just sound like Fenders to me.
-
That is one fine looking plank you have there Dave. Junior hasn't seen it yet and I had better not let him see it. He wants a PRS....a "green one".
-
woah
excellent pics for a phone, too
-
Hope you do a Youtube clip so we can hear and see it in action.
-
In reply to your question Dave. I am not sure. I think Johnathan is about to give the guitar a sand down and then it is off for painting. So it will be a little while yet, but I am sure well worth the wait.
-
It's still all about the colour for me, absolutely beautiful!
-
Needs another 2 frets... ;)
Very nice Dave! As it sets a new standard I'll assume this will be your last NGD for quite a while.
-

I'm sure it will mate, I like the spec a lot and will be interested to hear your review!

Correct. Unless PRS announce something else that I just HAVE to have  Given how unique this guitar is, how personal it is to me, and how much it cost, I'm at a loss to see what else I'd be interested in. Never say never though ;)
My thoughts last week were that I'd take it straight out to gig on Saturday night, but I can't. I'm scared I'll ding it  I'll have to wait until I've added some wear by playing it at home a bit first...
-
wow. even the back looks stunning
-
wow. even the back looks stunning
I think woods like mahogany and korina can look just as good as maple, in their way. There's just something about a nice bit of wood grain....
-
The back has a really, really pretty "shimmer" - some light wave across the grain that catch the light. Really 3D-like.
I'm still in awe by the looks of it, to me it's a piece of art. The bonus is, you get to play rock n' roll on it too!
-
Yes, that was what I ask, the tele bridge pu is bigger than the strat and humbuckers coil... Like a lot this idea :)
How does it sound?
Sorry Fernando - I missed your question. I commented on the sounds here: http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=25923.msg339864#msg339864
Basically, it sounds how Paul describes it in the blurb that came with the guitar. In humbucker mode it sounds "wider" than other guitars - a bit more bass and a bit more top end sparkle. Really balanced across all the strings, even with loads of gain playing an open C chord. Something I've never had on a guitar before.
With the coil splits selected, the pickups sound like a cross between a single coil/P90/lipstick. Big, sparkly and clear. Same volume as the humbuckers too, which is great so you don't have to change your amp settings.
For live work, I actually like the volume drop/less gain you get from a traditional coil split and the DGT is great for that. Plus I can throw that around and not worry about it!
If I wanted the best tone I could possibly get though, I'd grab the Sig every single time. No question whatsoever.
-

That's exactly what Da Vinci said about the young man who posed for the Mona Lisa
Yep, it do look fab in them camera pics. We await the Mrs Twinfan versions with a certain amount of anticipation :D
Interesting you saying she can hear a difference. My missus has started saying stuff like that as well recently - not too sure whether it's actually true (as it should be, of course, there's obviously a difference, I can hear it, so should she!!), or mebbe she's just humouring me...
Now, tell us, are you actually getting any work done this morning, or are you just sitting there waiting for the end of play, drooling over the pictures?
-
Well it's band rehearsal tonight, but I'll be taking Goldie for her first run out.
Might have to have a noodle on the Green Machine before I go though ;)
-

Oh, Dave....! You make it sound like it's a Squier! :P

ahahahahaha
