Title: humbucker and single volume pot value.
Post by: dani on October 23, 2011, 11:45:25 AM
do you use a 250k or 500k pot with a humbucker equipped guitar configured for a single volume?

i am currently using a 500k and it is plenty bright compared to my other guitars with a volume and tone pot.

fwiw,  does overall resistance of a 250k volume pot equates to a 500k volume and tone pot wired as per normal?

thanks!

I either use 500k or 1M. A 250k pot will cut off more highs than say a 500k or 1M pot. I think that answered your question(?) You worded it oddly. It's $%&#ing with my brain, lol.

BKP sells 550k-pots. Just to know.

I would always use a 500k pot in the past but might try it with a 550k  as mentioned above

A volume only guitar will tend to sound a little brighter and hotter than one with a tone control as there will be less "loading" of the signal from the extra components
