Title: First Singing Lesson Tonight!
Post by: MrBump on October 24, 2011, 09:51:03 PM
Yep, just had my first half hour with Lynne Austin Dutton, a singing/voice coach just up the road from me.

It was awesome.  Within a few minutes, I was doing things that I didn't think I could do, learning about my physical make up, reaching notes I've never reached before.

And she knows Neville Martin too!  Her husband is in the same band!

Awesome evening!

Sounds good!   I really enjoyed the lessons I had, shame they couldn't improve my overall vocal tone though!

Have you got homework?

Wish I could do something like that but my entire vocal range seems to be somewhere between low G and low G#  :|

i did singing lessons for a while. great experience.  it's all about confidence really, someone gives you the skills and confidence to do it and you'd be amazed what can come out of your mouth

That's what I thought!

But then we went through the mechanics...  Not that I'm good - that takes practice - but I understand how it works now...

Cool!
I'm always being told that it's great ear training to sing what you are gonna play but I've never been able.
Might give this a try!

it's about learning what your range really is and using it properly, rather than wishing you could sing a certain way and being disheartened because you can't.  and learning to look after your voice!  that's why i went.  proper warm up and maintenance is essential
