yep, that's a YJM100 under my AFD100. i feel a little light headed!
-
ahahahaha
don't let on you have too much money, though, or someone might start offering you some wedding dresses
-
i was just thinking, i'd look lovely in one of those dresses, with a Les Paul and these behind me :)
-
:o can't believe you got the two... recession? where????
-
i can't believe it either Fernando! i had been thinking about getting the YJM, because the idea of a plexi type amp with power scaling appealed a very great deal. but i didn't think i actually would. i had heard good things about the AFD, but wasn't looking for one. i happened to be in the right place at the right time to try it, and i was hooked! i called in a favour and got it. problem is, i was so impressed by the power scaling, i realised i really wanted the YJM! and i found a decent deal on one and went for it! i'll be in debt for a while, but well, they're awesome :)
-
Wow, well done, if you've got (or can get) the money go for it! :o
I keep succumbing to similar temptations buying guitars..... but now I have to get shot of a few. :(
-
I hate you. Go away you fortunate b*stard
-
One of the stickers is wonky.
Waste of money!
-
it's total overkill, and i've astonished myself a bit by actually getting both of these, but i'm now thoroughly excited, more than i have been in a long time, about making music!
having played both now, i have to say, i don't understand why they didn't put a noise gate in the AFD when there's one in the YJM, it's a brilliant feature! i'll have to get a gate pedal now :( what's better, the ISP or the MXR?

ah! damn! well, back in the box it goes :(
-
Before you send its wonky stickered ass back, you should try the decimator. I dont know about the MXR, but I dont really see how it could be better, works pretty much perfectly.
-
Wow - nice work matey! How are you finding the YJM?
-
Thanks MDV, i'll look into that. sounds good.
Dave, when i plugged in first it didn't sound like i expected. i was playing a 1969 Marshall amp a few times over the last while, and this is quite different. it's more 70's Marshall, harder edged and with more gain. once i adjusted though, it sounds great! and i don't have to demolish buildings with volume to get it! and the booster is excellent, although i preferred it with the level up and the gain down. all those 70's hard rock sounds are right there, just perfect. and the noise gate is brilliant. the reverb's even quite good! :) between this and the AFD, every Marshall tone from about 1970 to now is right there, and at any volume.

Congrats with your trip to Marshall-heaven!
-
Awesome! I would love to try a YJM but fear I'd like it too much so I won't... ha ha. Congrats.

£2800!? is this the beginning of the prices going up, or a misprint?
-
was looking at another Marshall at the weekend. Managed to keep my wallet in check though.
Congrats on the YJM - a very cool pair you have there mate!

i think the latest version of the MXR smart gate is a little better. the decimator is excellent though.
-
Congrats! The AFD is one Marshall that really gets my GAS going.

so for the extra £1600 you get a box,a shirt, a lead and some other cr@p ......... or for the same price you could do
as blue did and buy a YGM and an AFD!
congrats by the way.
-
ah, i see. i did know about the special edition one, but the Dolphin page doesn't mention it. i do like the special edition, but it's hardly worth an extra £1600!
i'm happy to say i got reasonable deals on both amps, so i would still have a bit of that £1600 in my back pocket ;)
and thanks Gwem and Sancho, they are both pretty excellent 8)
