Title: retrofitting covers to open coil mules - New member question

Hi - have just picked up a pair of s/h Mules in zebra  - but prefer to put nickel covers on them ...

Is there an idiots guide to this anywhere or should i leave to a pro ?

BKP will add a cover to them for £20 per p/u. :)

The challenge is not to simply put the covers on - well you could do that but you will at least have to solder the cover to the base plate. The downside to this simplistic approach is that you may get microphonic feedback at high volume/gain settings. To alleviate this you will need to wax pot the cover before you put the pickup in it. I do not recommend to practice this on a BKP if you haven't done this before - practice on something cheap or leave the job to a pro.
