Title: The new VHT amps - any opinions?
Post by: Lucifuge on November 02, 2011, 04:11:47 PM
I was wondering if anyone has used any of the new VHT amps (ie the current production models that are made in China, not the old ones that are now branded Fryette.)

Specs look very impressive for the price, but if they're badly made or a bad design, then the specs don't really mean anything...

vht special 6 is very nice for the money IMO. I'd assume the special 6 ultra is too (as it's basically a special 6 with an added gain stage and some more bells and whistles).

Should probably point out that my first special 6 was faulty, though. But if you get one that's working, it's nice.

I have a Special 6 and Ultra heads.
They are fantastic amps, expecially considering how cheap they are.
I would definietly recommend going getting the Ultra as it brings a lot:
fx loop, attenuator, Ultra input, Depth and Texture control.

However Special 6 is a great, very small, simple head.
It makes very nice low-wattage pedal platform.
