What small combo (with good build quality) have y'all played that just drips with AWESOME tone?
-
Err, what kind of tone? Jazz? Blues? Rock? Metal?
-
JPF Amps Sir Charles combo.
-
Yup one of franks jpf, one of ian's hth or one of martin mjw loved the 6v6 roadstar I had of his 1x12 most toneful amp I've owned (excusing the current orion mjw)
-
Martins (MJW) V6-20 or roadstar AWESOME amps :)

Dr Z Maz 18
EAST Studio 2

Budget?
And whereabouts are you?
Anyway, Cornell Romany or Plexi 7, perhaps?
-
Lazy J 20?

Lazy J 20?
damn he'll need second mortgage for that
-
Well he hasn't set a budget, so maybe he can afford it!
-
An old silverface champ. Best *small toneful combo* I've ever played. Period.
-
Damn, so many suggestions! :D
I live in the US, but if I find something on the bay, who knows!
TONE: I'd love to have an amp that can get to that compressed "crunch" all on its own, mid-gain heaven, if possible. Whatever the amp can't do on its own, I can always boost. In the end, I'd rather have an AMAZING clean tone than a slightly-not-as-good mid-gain tone.
Budget, hmm... $1000?
I was also looking at Port City's new smaller combos...

I love my Cornell Romany Plus. The Swart Spacetone is also a cutie.

20w Jet City combo?

How about a Cornford Roadhouse?

Tons of awesome suggestions! I'm intrigued by the MJW Amps... however, I can't find any on the bay or stateside. Anyone know if they happen to have some in Marseille, France?
-
Martin sells em all over, look at you tube vids. Think martin ships anywhere.

Ooh, really?? Awesome! Sadly, I won't be able to look at youtube until December (network security doesn't allow it). However, I'll definitely look at them more in depth; they seem to have more features for the price!

thomann's a good bet if your buying in france (like me), i just bought a dual terror, which may not be your choice, but if
anything goes wrong with it in the next 3 years , they'll fix it. just as important, they'll ship it for repairs free of charge.
it's easy to find better deals in uk, until your amp breaks.thomann wins here.
back to your question, those egnator rebels (30w?) look a good bet to me.
-
The Dual Terror is a great little amp and cheaper than any hard wired stuff. It's all down to what you want to spend!
-
I have a single channel Terror (7 or 15 Watts selectable) with a 2 X 12 open back cab (Orange).
I also have a Fender Blues Junior 3, but for home use (and home recording), which they both are,
I prefer the Tiny Terror. Although electronically they are both very similar (same valves, etc..) for me,
the Orange combination (TT head and 212cab) does it !!
-
Maybe an Egnater Tweaker, but it doesn't come in a combo though.

Princeton Reverb Reissue
Just looked at this again and realised this was a pretty bad suggestion. Nice cleans but no mid gain crunch without pedals
