I didn't last as long in Canada as I'd hoped but coming back to England hasn't been bad really. I've just landed a job in a TV studio :D It's Ideal World shopping channel so not exactly high end but I'm not complaining! Job is pretty much all the fun stuff we did at uni - rigging up studios, mic'ing presenters up and plugging everything into the wall boxes, camera op, working on the sound desks/gram op and that sort of thing. I'm pretty excited to start in a week.
Already planning the next guitar upgrades  My 2 LPs need the 50s rewiring with new parts and I could do with some BKPs for the SG!

Congrats, jobs are hard to find at the moment - sounds like you got a good one!

Congrats. I think i know a few people that work/worked at ideal world.

Nice one Tom- I hope it goes well for you.

Cheers guys, looking forward to working in a proper studio :) I had a tour in my interview, looks pretty nice! I'm the 5th from my course/year at uni to get a job there as well, they must love DMU students haha

Well done!

Contratulations :D

Nice one, congratulations. Hope it works out well for you :D

That's awesome news, many congratulations. Sounds like a good fit for your skills (if I remember right) and it'll be a great springboard into future opportunities I'm sure.

Yeah we did a lot of as-live studio tv stuff at uni so it should be a good fit :) I am more interested in post-production, graphics and that sort of thing, but live gives you a good buzz! Still playing around with the 3D stuff but don't have good enough skills in that sort of thing. My work there is pretty poor compared to loads of graduates, so just sort of doing that for fun and trying to improve.
Starting on the 21st, really looking forward to it.

bump, been there 5 months and already headhunted via LinkedIn for a similar job at SIS outside broadcasting! Feel a bit bad leaving so soon but SIS are a pretty serious company and there's opportunity to move into working on festivals, live sports events etc after I've proved myself :) the pay increase is going to be very nice as well, will finally be able to afford to rewire the remaining 2 guitars and get some Riff Raffs for the SG! And its about a 5 minute drive away from Woburn so potential for post-work bike rides on early shifts.
-
Congrats! :)
My brother lives near Woburn, nice area.
