Title: Boss Tele Clip
Post by: Tellboy on January 27, 2006, 03:46:40 PM
I thought we were a bit underwhelmed with Tele clips so decided to have a go myself.

This is a calibrated Boss set, 50th Anniversary Jap Tele into a Cornford Hurricane. (Shure SM57 mike).
The amp was left on the same setting throughout (both guitars) and I used the guitar volume control and the 4 position pickup switch to vary tone. Starts with the volume wound down on the guitar and then switches from bridge to N&B (parallel), Neck, N&B series. The guitar is then switched back to the bridge and the volume is turned up full after about 50 seconds.

I recorded this on my laptop with an external hard drive. Unfortunetly I had problems with this and had to use the first take - hence a few fluffed notes - will try harder next time

Very nice clip. There's a good 70's rhythm n' blues vibe going on, with a little ZZ-top thrown on top.

Great stuff- two tele posts in a week - we are spoiling them! That 4th position is fantastic isn't it. I don't know if you have heard my Country Boy clip.

Thanks - I've just listened to your clip - excellent, great tone. I'm a fan of the 4 position switch like you. I find with the switch and just the guitar volume (and BKPs) you can get an amazing range of sounds without having to touch the amp or effects and the Tele is such a crude instrument. (mine has got a neck like a baseball bat - huge compared to my SGs - really got to fight it, but since I've put the Boss set on I really like it.)

Yes - 2 tele clips in a week!!! I'll have to do a Riff Raff clip next!

Thanks - yes I think the Boss is amazing. I had a set of Rio Grandes (Muy Grande bridge) which I thought was an improvement over the stock pickups but I had bad tuning problems because of the very large magnets/pole pieces and when they were turned up they lost the 'tele' sound. I was tempted with the Yardbird - if I had another tele I would give them or the CBs a try.
