Im an expat living in China therefore it is very difficult for me to purchase upgraded pickups. Im a big fan of p90's and my jazzmaster pickups dont cut the mustard. What i am wondering is if i was to place two gibson type magnets under the base of my jazzmaster pickups touching the pole magnets and mounting the base on a metal plate would this work and would it get me a little closer to a p90 type sound? So there would be 6 pole magnets and another 2 bar magnets under the base of the pickup all mounted on a metal plate. What do you think or am i barking up the wrong tree?
