Title: M-Audio Black Box
Post by: Dakine on January 28, 2006, 03:12:21 PM
Anyone ever tried/have one of these?

Thought is a good idea (home recording) and just went on sale, inc. the optional foot expression pedal for $199.

I know Carlos was suggesting I p/u summit in US before return, this looks a good bet?

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,

I've got an Adrenalinn II. The Black Box is basically a cut down version of this (less amp models and less programmability, if I remember rightly) but has a USB port for recording. My thoughts on the Adrennalinn:

Thanks Froglord.
Only really looking at somthing to record short tracks onto the PC really, not a "True" effects processor or for anything live, just for hobby stuff.
Saw Guitar Centre having it on sale with the pedal included at really good price and got me thinking.

sounds 'good' to me, if you're just after it to mess around with then it's probably just the ticket.

I bought one off ebay about a month ago. Also have got a Pod2 (plus a couple of PC software progs) . Great for practicing and home recording - drum machine useful. Some good sounds (Soldano, Marshall).
However, like every digital amp modeller I've tried, when I plug in to my Cornford Hurricane there is no comparison - just don't have the same touch sensitivity and dynamics. I find if I can get a good sound on a digital modeller whatever guitar I plug in sounds the same, whereas if I use a Tele or Les Paul in my Cornford you can hear the difference immediately. Might be just me - Steve has recorded some excellent clips in the players section using a Pod XT and different BK pickups and they sound really good.
