According to the new issue of Total Guitar, Slash said himself that GnR will be reforming and releasing Chinese Democracy in March. I cant remember the full article but I could always type it up later. How exciting :D
-
No way! I hope you're not pulling my leg on this one
-
I'm not. I might scan in the article later on or tomorrow. Apparently Slash said it himself. I always thought they weren't on talking terms (Slash and Axl) :?
I just hope this new album is back to the good rock like Appetite, and not power ballads!
-
Do'nt hold your breath.
Is it April 1st already? LOL
-
:o I hope their new stuff won't suck! I had always heard loads about Axl reforming GnR, but i didnt know the old crew were gonna be in on it?
-
I'm going to be sceptical about this one, sorry Tom!
I'm sure I read the other day that Axl said he's not in touch with any of the guys any more. I think what Slash was talking about was just the band (as it currently is) is getting together to release the album?
-
From the "temper tantrum meister" mouth.

dont think the article mentions slash specificly saying 'i will be involved with GnR' (i'll re-read it tho :P)... but he definitely says the new album is due in March!!
Has anyone heard the new GnR song? They played it live a while back and Area 54 (ace Uk metal band) have covered\recorded it and got alot of press for themselves.. but arent 'releasing it' :(
-
I think I heard a really shitety boot of it a while ago - I wasn't sure if it was them or not! Whatever the song was, I didnt care for it :(
-
Oh yeah.. I just re read the article and it doesnt say Slash will be involved  Sorry. He says "Axl's got a record coming out", not We have a record coming out. Guess I was just excited and didnt read it properly :x

Have you seen the official GNR site?

Says it all...

there's a term in software development.. has to do with release rumours, which get pushed back and back further and further each year.. those king of programs get the term Vaporware .. and i think we can use the term on this one too..
sorry, but i aint holding my breath for this one

Neither am I now it seems Slash/Duff arent likely to be involved. It'll probably be that buckethead character, whose playing (IMHO) is inferior to Slash's.. :x
-
buckethead plays circles around slash.. with his eyes closed.. one hand behind his back .. and propped 15 feet in the air.
but he doesnt fit GnR the way slash does. no slash, no GnR end of story.
but i doubt he's going to be on the record.. there's only so much bullshitee, even a freak like buckethead will take

Yeah I agree with no slash, no GnR.. But I still prefer Slash's playing, from what I've heard of buckethead he seems to be a typical boring player who does some fast stuff then boring tapping etc
-
Buckethead left the band ages ago, I thought. I'm not sure who the current guitarist is.
-
yeah Buckethead did leave at least 6 months back. apparently it was out of frustration.
it has to be said that Axl looks a tw@t with his cornrows hair.
-
hahaha he does indeed. The link to the GnR site made me laugh though
-
:D G`n`R yesterdays band
:D 8)

You have CLEARLY not heard enough of Buckethead. A lot - if not most - of his albums consist of approximately 0% shred.

Finally - A reason to like them.

Colma and electric tear albums are testiment to that

The player in the "Slash" role with G'n'R is the great and weird Ron Thal, who actually does a good job. He's kind of a halfway house between Slash and Buckethead. He doesn't quite have the same tonal authority as Slash though :(

Personally Buckethead doesn't do it for me

I was going to mention Ron Thal but wasn't sure if he was just in G&R for the last tour, or a permant member
If he would quit using those bloody Line 6 amps he would get a better tone IMHO
I do like the bumblefoot stuff though and the line 6 copes well enough for his schitzo styles, but for GnR !
