A young friend of my son's (aged 22) has got involved with a guy (around my age of 53) who has convinced her that they are going to make a HUGE amount of money from Adsense. They are running a blog about Arsenal Football Club. It links to a website that is best described as ' under development '.
From what I've read on the net there are very few people making serious money from Adsense and most people can hope to make a few pennies a week. This guy claims they've already made several thousands of pounds in a couple of months although she has yet to see any cash.
This is the blog:

I think she's being fed a line of total bull**it but my son and his friends can't convince her that there's something wrong.
What do you guys think ?

There's the first possible problem there...... :x
The rest of how much money can be made this way is a bit "pie in the sky'
Some YouTube videos do make money but you need millions upon millions of hits for it to amount to much

You're not going to be able to make any kind of money from a blog that will enable even 1 person to enjoy the rewards. The money to be made from a niche site is going to be very low, and there's no way that this guy has made thousands in a couple of months.
Tell the chap to have a think about it-- i'm sure there's plenty of info about adsense on the web that will show him it's a scam (look for click through rates etc. there's different ways to get paid, but the numbers of clicks all have to be pretty large! And also, think about when the last time it was that you actually clicked on an advert on a website? I don't think i've ever done it!)

I think the criticism section tells all. There really is no free lunch. The best you can hope for is finding a coin in the street. I think she should just write her blog and focus on the enjoyment from that.

I have my DIY blog thats been going for a month or two now and has adsense on.
Firstly nobody ever really clicks on the ads because well would you? i know i wouldnt.
But so far from 10 clicks ive made £8.36 the catch here is you can't actually get the money until its a multiple of £10 so if nobody else ever clicks on the ads then thats £8.36 that i haven't actually made.
The only real way to make masses of money is to spam the hell out of forums asking people to click the ads or have some very interesting info that will keep people coming back and hoepfully theyll accidentally click on them

That doesn't seem bad money at all. If they've got a blog on The Arse(nal) then they might be getting a fair bit of traffic.
