Post by: chopeth on December 07, 2011, 02:57:21 PM
Hi Friends ! I wonder if with a c-pig I can a decent djent sound with my 7 strings ( maoghany body and flamed maple top ) . My gear is a marshall jvm , ts 9dx, biyang equalizer , bbe sonic maximizer !  Thanks a lot !

With that gear, you definitely can!

- I would stick to cranking the mid-range and the presence knobs
- Lower the treble a tad, and keep the bass at around a 5 or 6.
- Turn the Gain down to about a 5 or so, and get most of your gain from your picking and cranking the volume. (A distortion pedal like a Maxon OD808 would help too)
- The sonic maximizer might smooth everything out, so I would stay away from using that.  (I never liked them anyway) When I think of a djent tone in my head, I think big; not compressed.

Take my advice for what it is worth...free; but that is what I would do to get a solid tone.

Thank you!! Only one question...when you say " 6 or 6" is 6/10 , 6/12 or  6'oclock ??

I have c-pig in my 7 which is mahogany body flame maple top and neck through and I found bass best at 5.5/10 and gain about 4.5/10.  I am doing this through a Peavey Vypyr 60.  I had a real love/hate relationship with my c-pig for a couple of months as I couldn't get it sounding right.  The thing needs it's own padded cell.  It's mental.

It can only be 6/10 or 6/12 - 6 o'clock would be full up which would only give you mud.

Cheers Stephan

use the equalizer in front of the amp, cut a bit of bass and add some upper mids and treble
works better for a more defined picking response than a tube screamer
I have a ts9dx and just sold a vintage maxon equalizer
I'd keep the equalizer if I wanted clarity and attack over saturation

I HATE this bloody O'clock business that guitarists seem to use! ARGH!! IDIOTS! Out of 10 is so much simpler, and even with no markings, if you can't guess roughly the right ball-park out of ten... well, I shall hold off from ranting any more. God it annoys me. Like bloody teles and that cnut mctw@tty. ARRRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

But yeah, with that gear should should have no problem achieving a good djenty tone :)
