The Stock pick-ups in the Mustang is way to dead for my liking. I bought the guitar for my wife as a wedding gift, it is still in great condition but I would like to jack up the output and tone. Any recommendation in BKP’s to replace it with? I'm into blues...

No personal experience with BKP single coils yet but Irish tours appear to be a good choice for blues and blues rock.

The IT's are sure great for blues, smokey, gritty, some extra weight in the bass compared to Mother's Milk. If you want more mids check out the Slowhands.

Am I missing something here? Is the guitar for your wife or are you going to be using it? :D I hope SHE's not into death metal or something...

In that case - Sinners.

Are mustangs mounted with strat pickups, or is it a different design ? (pardon my ignorance). In the first case, yeps, you may want to consider ITs, Slowhands or - for something more vintagey but (from the player's sound clips and forum's knowledge) still very good for crunchy tones, Apaches. In the second case, you could eventually contact Tim for a rewind.

I think Irish Tours would be fun in that!

My Main guitar "Heritage 535" had its headstock broken off (long Story), so I'm borrowing my wife’s "wedding gift". This is temporary only until I've finished my project Tele, or until my main axe is fixed up again...

Thank God I never had a headstock broken (mainly play tele's and strats and don't break that easy), but it must be terrible when it's your main axe. Hope it can be fixed, those Heritages are great guitars.

I believe they are slightly different but they probably fit.
Johan, best to measure the dimensions of the Mustang pickups and compare to strat pickups to be sure. Of course with a little routing of the pickguard and the body I am sure you could make strat pickups fit but maybe you don't want to do that to your guitar. In that case I am with BigB - go for a rewind.

They are the same. Mustang pickups had/flat profile as opposed to staggered so they sit nicely under the solid covers.
