Man. am I in trouble with Mrs 38th or what? Just bought a Taylor 210e-G. I only went into Andertons to change a faulty mic stand I'd bought. Then I went to the acoustic guitar section with my Son and .....well it was his fault...he said that it sounded great when I played it and ...well I bought it. No pics yet for Fernando but I must admit that it does sound beautiful. It also smells rather nice!

Nice buy! Curious what will be the revenge of the Mrs.
-
Nice story, congrats. May the retaliation be bareable.
-
Well, Taylors are lovely guitars, I've never played a bad one so I hope it's worth it. :)
-
So this isn't the one you were hinting about then...?
(We do need those pics)
-
Very good and good luck with the anger of your wife
-
No Philly this isn't the one hinted at though it has had to be put back a month or two as I am clearly irresponsible with money and I really ought to think about my priorities- I mean , how many guitars do I need- I can only play one at a time surely.
( a glimpse into the world of me there)
Aw now you got me thinking about the next one- the worn out record will be played on the turntable again once I get it here no doubt!
I asked a rhetorical question last night which was:
"Ok, how many pairs of shoes do you actually need?"
-
congratz for the guitar - and hope it's worth the trouble

This is sheer insanity!!
I can't even play one at a time and it doesn't stop me....

Congrats - nice guitar 8)
I'm crafty with Mrs T. - I just wait for her to buy more clothes that she doesn't need and casually say "Just seen a great guitar on ebay but I don't think I should buy it ...." She always encourages me to buy it especially if I comment how nice her new clothes looks. Got a nice PRS DGT couple of weeks ago by trying this :D

Genius! I don't have the patience to go clothes shopping though.

Congrats. Enjoy it.

Congratulations... Nice guitar... You will enjoy !!
I have the 'Big Baby' 307 (15/16 - Parlour size), and it's great fun !
-
You actually asked (out loud) the "how many shoes" question??! Oh dear... do you have stilletto heel embedded in the back of your head now?
I like Tellboy's approach - I have a feeling that's how I do it, albeit subconsciously.
Anyway, big congrats on the guitar :D
-
i just buy 'em and hide 'em :) i have to remember which ones people know about so i know which ones to put away when certain people come around. does that make me a bad person? :)
congrats on the Taylor 38th, i don't even have an acoustic but i know they are lovely
-
Thanks guys. I think I might adopt Tellboy's approach. I did have another idea about sneaking it into the house and saying nothing and if she asked, deny all knowledge.
Yes I did blurt out the "shoes" bit and credit to Mrs 38th, she only scowled once.
The reason I gravitated to this guitar was that I do have a Taylor Big Baby which I love and as I have started to do open mic's ( yeah I know, a glutton for punishment but I get roped into accompanying folks who struggle a bit you see) , I thought the 210 would be ideal. I also have a solo spot playing my own songs in January and I dislike my Takamine that I was beginning the dread it but now now.
I forgot to say that I tried out a few other Taylors - more expensive ones and decided on this because for the money, it was the one that jumped out at me. In the same room they had Gibsons and Martins and I tried a couple and preferred the Taylors though having said that, I did like one of the Martins but it was about three times the price. The amplified tone is also brilliant and seems to include the character of the guitar. As others have said, I don't think I have ever encountered a duff one.

Ah... the old faulty mic/ stand/ pick/ string routine, what a way to get such a great guitar! When I get some disposable I'm going to try that one for sure. Congratulations. 8)
