Hi guys,
I've recently acquired a sg standard and was think about puttin in some crawlers,
I like to play stuff from the darkness and led zeppelin.
Suggestions? thanks!

tim recommends lower or higher output models for SGs
the holy diver sounded really cold in a gibson sg I had, and I imagine the crawler would be even colder
how about a black dog, riff raff or vhII?

Agree with Eric - Crawler seems way too dark and therefore off the mark for the tones mentioned. Led Zeppelin screams for Black Dogs whereas VHII would be better suited to The Darkness - inspite of the name their guitar tones are rather bright.
Cheers Stephan

The Crawler would indeed be a bit too much. It's already quite beefy in my swampashstrat. Like Eric and Stephan say, something low output like RiffRaffs/ VHII's. You might even consider Missisippi Queens.

I have a Black Dog in my SG and it sounds great; tons of mids, obviously, but nice top end. The RiffRaff would be the obvious other candidate.
Before the Black Dog I had a Miracle Man in there and that rocked a lot, in fact I think that the MM is the perfect match for SGs and metal. I only changed it because that guitar is not my "metal" guitar, but more my "classic rock" guitar.

Yep, me too. I think the Crawler would sound way too dark in an SG.
Just to throw another one into the mix, Cold Sweats are great in an SG.

Yet another vote against Crawlers in a SG - I really love my Crawlers but I feel they just wouldn't work in my SG.
