Set up by a couple of guys from Sounds Great, it's a brand new shop in Manchester. I've not been yet but the website looks good and I think all of the decent guitar and effects stuff that Sounds Great stocked will be available here.
Since they are the guys at SG I have known the most over the last 15 years I'll probably end up going here in the future.
Also nice to see a new shop opening in these grim economic times, hopefully they will do well and Sounds Great can continue as well although I would imagine SG will focus more on the traditional instruments, pianos and cheaper guitars. Time will tell......

Freaky - just saw an Ad in Guitarist and was about to look up the website!
So I see it's Gary who's set it up, who else?
I'll have to pop in after New Year...

Also Rik. Not sure who else. I saw Rik at Puss in Boots in Oldham last night so didn't have chance to find out too much.
Looking at the location, it looks like it will be much less local walk in shop and more walk in showroom with the main business web based. But I guess that's the market now, I think it might be like a more upmarket Richtone Music.

Interesting, I've noticed SG has been heading down the drain for a bit. Clearly they weren't getting the control they wanted and needed over stock etc......
-
Well yes, the owner is 86 and was probably resistant to decisions that were required in the modern web based, well stocked environment. I would expect when the new place really gets going they will be stacked high to the rafters of very nice guitars.....
-
ah i meant to look that up but i forgot (saw it in guitarist too)
i'm guessing whether they survive or not will be based on whether dave moves back to manchester
-
Interesting, wonder if there will be more flexibility in prices compared to SG?

Yes, but thinking about it I think it was Dick Whittington

In this economic climate, Dave, i think that they were counting on it!

There's no way I'll be buying any guitars in the near future, not after my last two purchases. I checked their stock list just to make sure though ;)
I've got amp GAS at the moment, so I'ld better stay away as I see they have Diezels...

They haven't actually got much, have they, if the website is showing all their stock? I'm talking numbers, not value of course.
I guess it's early days for them.
-
Yep indeed. They must have someone bankrolling them though as therre must be 100k worth of stock?
-
Excellent
I'll check them out over Xmas
-
Now it all makes sense why Sounds Great stopped stocking Splawns

I love the way you say that like we don't all know you'll be selling something in 6 months and buying two more ;)
-
I agree that's my usual style, but I'm highly unlikely to sell anything else. I'm at "Fighting Weight" I think
Buying is another matter though, and something cheap may slip in I suppose...

Define "cheap" ;)
Everything is relative.
-
True, true. I guess £500ish would be my definition?

Ended up heading over there today with Mr Shobet. I bought one of these:

Tried and liked one of these:

Dave. This amp would go well with your red tele in your living room.
Sounded really nice and I really liked the quirky look it has

The baboon's arse coloured amp was very nice indeed. Spent a couple of hours there playing various stuff and talking shitee. I believe they'll do well with the plans they discussed with us.
Lots of pedals, and lots of pedals makes me happy. :)
And I got one of these, very velcro like fuzz http://www.vfepedals.com/VFE_Pedals/Fiery_Red_Horse.html
