Well it's distinctive ... not sure though. I never liked those pickup switches that look like lightswitches for Victorian bathrooms.

This is more my kind of guitar, I'm quite taken with the Fender Select range right now

I've been getting woefully out of date with developments at Fender....

So is the Fender Select range basically American Standards made out of fancier timber?

Strats and Teles for people who prefer collecting and polishing guitars to actually playing them.

That'd be me then....!

But I still prefer plainer guitars on the whole, the Selects look much too blingy.  And nothing looks better on a Strat or Tele than a nicely grained ash body, it doesn't need flame maple.

brb, just hiding my ash bodied quilt maple strat under the bed ...

Back to the original post, I do like some of the Squier Vintage Vibe range. They're reasonably priced, playable, nice mix of vintage and modern features and they have a certain rugged charm about them. Drop some better pickups in them and you've got a really good knockabout gigging guitar.

Yeah, the Vintage Vibes look great, just a shame about the skinny necks.

I also like the look of the Pawn Shop series, especially the Mustang Special.

That guitar looks great to me, I love the simple look and finish on these guitars.

Philly, surely you're not suggesting that this nasty beige monstrosity is 'too blingy'?! It looks as though it belongs in Sheltered Accommodation! :)

It's the colour of old PCs. However I like it, what does that say about me?

No, not the Classic Vibe Duo-Sonic.  I like that, especially the anodised scratchplate and three-saddle bridge.  :D

I was talking about the Select series Frank posted:
