For those that dont know the new PRS basically uses 5 coil tapped single coils so that you can have the choice between a "low power HB(or single) or full output, by tapping the coils.
Does anyone know where or how i might be able to wire this up using a 5 and 3 way blade switches?
Also Tim can you wind coils like this so that the might be coil tapped 3/4 of the way through or something like that?
Just a though.

This is not easy - you should see the wiring arrangement that PRS have - well it's more of a PCB based thing.
I have piccies of it in a PRS magazine- crazy stuff.
Each pickup has a coil tap halfway along each coil so you can have full power or half power, but the switching is a little more complex.
it's probably doable , after much headscratching

Tim sells a 4 pole 5-way switch. I think with 2 of these in a guitar you could really get any combination. I have one in an HSS guitar to give me 5 h/b sounds (bridge, bridge screw + middle, bridge+middle & neck as hb,bridge slug+neck, middle&neck as hb). With a second 3 way I could add parallel or tap.
Just a thought, why do you want coil tap when the volume works with bare knuckles :P

Apologies, only just found this post. Yes I can wind a tap into a coil no trouble.

No worries :)
- That sounds very good indeed.
Out of interest, can you wind a PU in the region of 11K and then put a tap in and then wind more on to make it sound similar to a Warpig? Or does this upset the whole operation of the PU.
Its just That I know some certain PU have different guage wire on each coils (like the Evo) can this be done except having both the same guage and then a tap, and then caring on with a different guage after the taps on the coils?
Just an Idea.

Simply-yes,within reason you can insert a tap at any point in a coil although tapping off 11K of a Warpig would sound pretty thin.
